Kumpulan Warisan Rockers adalah sebuah kumpulan penyanyi rock Malaysia yang mulai dikenali ramai setelah menyertai Juara Rock Galactica 1988.

Kumpulan ini dilahirkan menerusi pertandingan "Juara Rock Galactica 1988" menyaingi kumpulan lain, seperti Rattle (Kafilah), Lipan Bara, Mixed Blood (Satira), Script, Suria, Heartbeat, Melisa, Blackrose dan banyak lagi. Warisan Rockers beruntung kerana dapat merakamkan dua buah lagu untuk album ROCK GALACTICA 88, iaitu sebuah lagu cepat dan sebuah lagu perlahan.

Kumpulan Warisan Rockers turut merupakan salah satu dari kumpulan rock yang mengambil bahagian dalam pertanding di Juara Rock Galactica 1988

Sinopsis
TUMULAK, seorang pembunuh upahan berasal dari Thailand telah diupah oleh Ketua Gangster Thailand iaitu KIMPEDU. Segala kekecohan ini berlaku bermula di Pulau Pinang. ASP SHARIF yang bertugas di bahagian D7 kongsi gelap, judi dan maksiat bertanggungjawab di dalam kes – kes yang melibatkan ahli kongsi gelap. Setelah banyak kes pembunuhan berlaku dan berita tersebut tersebar luas. Wajah fotofit TUMULAk terpampang di poster dan televisyen sebagai orang yang paling dikehendaki di Malaysia. KIMPEDU lantas mengarahkan MAIA iaitu pembunuh upahannya yang kedua untuk memburu dan membunuh TUMULAK agar rahsia perancangannya tidak terbongkar kepada pengetahuan kumpulan kongsi gelap Malaysia dan pihak Polis.
TUMULAK diburu oleh Polis, kumpulan kongsi gelap dan seorang pembunuh upahan. Pelbagai strategi dirancang bagi meloloskan dirinya dari pihak – pihak tersebut. TUMULAK mengugut ASP SHARIF agar tidak mengganggunya. MAIA, pembunuh upahan kedua berjaya ditangkap oleh TUMULAK. TUMULAK berjaya melepasi sekatan Polis dan keluar dari Pulau Pinang menuju ke sempadan Thailand tetapi akhirnya beliau tumpas ditangan Skuad UTK Polis.

KUMPULAN BUNKFACE

Bunkface ialah sebuah kugiran empat ahli yang diasaskan di Klang, Selangor, pada tahun 2005, kini terdiri daripada penyanyi utama dan pemain gitar keduanya Sam Baharom, pemain gitar bes dan penyanyi tambahan Youk, pemain gitar utama Paan, dan pemain dram Ejam Coda. Antara lagu-lagu popular nyanyian Bunkface termasuk "Bunk Anthem", "Situasi", "Silly Lily", "High School Rocker", "Prom Queen", dan "Through My Window."

Pembentukan

Kugiran ini bermula sebagai empat sekawan yang bersekolah di SMK Sri Andalas dan sering mengadakan sesi jamming biasa di Klang, Selangor, Nama "Bunkface" berasal dari tajuk sebuah lagu dendangan Sum 41, "Crazy Amanda Bunkface", yang dicadangkan oleh bekas pemain dram, Biak.

Pada Mac 2006, Bunkface memenangi tempat pertama di pertandingan Band Rakan Seni Budaya anjuran Universiti Malaya, yang mana Piko dari kumpulan Marionexxes juga bertindak selaku pengurus acara, majalah muzik ROTTW turut sama menaja acara itu. Daripada itulah Bunkface julung kalinya disiarkan dalam majalah. Kemudian, Piko telah mencadangkan Bunkface kepada komuniti muzik Internet Demoplanet.tv untuk menawarkan penajaan untuk membikin video muzik. Pada akhir tahun 2006 barulah mereka dapat menarik perhatian umum dengan menyertai pertandingan realiti Blast Off.

Pada Disember 2007, Bunkface mengeluarkan EP pertama mereka yang berjudul Lesson of the Season yang ddiisi enam buah lagu berbahasa Inggeris yang mengadunkan gaya pop-punk/rock alternatif. Lagu hit "Silly Lily" menduduki tangga teratas di carta hitz.fm Malaysian Top Ten selaam 8 minggu dan carta Fly.fm Campur Chart selama 10 minggu. Single berbahasa Melayu pertama mereka, "Situasi" pula menduduki tangga 1 di carta XFresh FM serta mencapai tangga 3 di Carta Era selama 3 minggu.

Pada tahun 2009, Kumpulan Bunkface menggondol anugerah Rockstar, Break Out dan juga The Ultimate Shout! Award di upacara Shout! Awards pertama anjuran 8TV di Stadium Bukit Jalil. Pencapaian mereka di majlis penganugerahan urban tersebut menarik minat pihak penganjur One Movement For Music Perth (OMFM) dari Australia yang mengundang mereka untuk membuat persembahan di pesta yang diadakan di Perth pada 16–18 Oktober 2009, sekaligus menandakan kali pertama mereka membuat persembahan di luar negara

Bunkface menyertai kempen Everyone Connects anjuran TM dan menyanyikan lagu "Through My Window" yang disiarkan dalam iklan radio dan TV kempen tersebut. Lagu ini mula diperdengarkan ke udara dalam bentuk lagu misteri yang diedarkan ke semua stesen radio di negara.Misteri ini menimbulkan tanda tanya di kalangan orang awam mengenai siapa penyanyinya dan apakah tujuan lagu ini dimainkan. Populariti kumpulan Bunkface melonjak setelah didedahkan identiti mereka selaku penyanyi lagu tersebut. Ketika ini, bilangan peminat lagu "Through My Window" yang mendaftar di Facebook mencecah 17,000 orang di samping namanya disebut lebih 3.7 juta kali dan lebih 6,600 muat naik video and audio di laman sosial tersebut. Acara nyanyian beramai-ramai Everyone Connects yang turut mengetengahkan lagu "Through My Window" diadakan di Jalan Bukit Bintang pada 21 November 2009. Band indie lain yang turut serta dalam konsert gemilang itu ialah Rock N Roll John, Marionexxes, Maddame, Basolaye dan The Rodeo.

Pada Mac 2010, Bunkface mengeluarkan album penuh pertama mereka, iaitu Phobia Phoney[6] yang terdiri daripada empat lagu Melayu dan enam lagu Inggeris, termasuk single-single hit seperti "Situasi", "Revolusi", "Prom Queen" dan "Soldier".

Pada bulan Ogos 2010, beberapa akhbar memuatkan berita mengenai perselisihan faham di antara Sam dan anggota kumpulan Bunkface yang lain. Diberitakan Sam tidak berpuas hati kerana kejayaan Bunkface banyak dibantu oleh kesungguhan beliau sahaja. Sam dikatakan mahu meninggalkan kugiran itu dan membentuk kugiran baru.

Tidak lama selepas itu, Sam dan pengurusannya tampil menafikan dakwaan. Menurut mereka, Bunkface masih lagi utuh dan tidak akan berpecah (dalam waktu terdekat ini) sebaliknya akan terus merencana perjalanan seni mereka. Sam bagaimanapun mengakui akan menubuhkan sebuah kugiran indie terbaru yang lebih banyak menumpukan persembahan secara underground. Menurut Sam, penglibatannya dalam kugiran baru itu tidak bermakna dia mahu meninggalkan Bunkface sebaliknya sekadar mencuba perkara baru

KUMPULAN LAGENDA CARBURETOR DUNG

Kumpulan Carburetor Dung merupakan sebuah kumpulan pemuzik dan penyanyi yang aktif di Malaysia. Kumpulan ini menyampaikan lagu-lagu Melayu.

Carburetor Dung adalah kumpulan pemuzik punk rock yang diasaskan di Kuala Lumpur pada tahun 1991 dan masih lagi segar bergiat di dalam pergerakan muzik underground Malaysia sehingga sekarang.

Lain dari kebanyakkan kumpulan muzik underground awalan yang seangkatan dengan mereka yang menjejak langkah ke arena arus perdana (mainstream), setelah mengeluarkan album pertama pada tahun 1993, Carburetor Dung memilih untuk terus beraksi secara DIY (Do-It-Yourself) atau independen, tanpa diikat oleh kontrak dengan syarikat rakaman korporat atau pun mengarapkan paparan media massa arus perdana. Mereka merakam dan mengeluarkan hasil rakaman lagu-lagu mereka dan menjalankan aktiviti mereka secara tersendiri.

Paparan lirik-lirik lagu Carburetor Dung berkisar pada tema-tema kepincangan masyarakat, ketidakadilan, pembodohan rakyat oleh pihak media dan juga warna-warna hidup orang muda di Kuala Lumpur; manakala muzik mereka dipengaruhi oleh kumpulan-kumpulan Punk Rock dari dunia Barat terutama dari England dan Amerika Syarikat disekitar era awal 80an.

Selama ini Carburetor Dung telah menghasilkan dua album iaitu Songs For Friends (1993) dan The Allure of Manure (1999), mereka juga telah menyumbang lagu-lagu mereka kepada beberapa album kompilasi di Malaysia dan juga di luar negera. Pada tahun 2000 sebuah single berbentuk piring hitam 7 inci bertajuk Sheepfarming in Malaysia telah dikeluarkan di London.

Rakaman terbaru mereka adalah sebuah lagu bertajuk "Mari Nyanyi Menjilat", yang dimuatkan didalam kompilasi Radio Malaya dan dikeluarkan pada bulan April 2006.

Asal usul

Nama Carburetor Dung mula dipakai oleh kumpulan ini dengan masuknya Joe Kidd sebagai pemain gitar pada akhir 1992. Sebelum itu mereka menggunakan nama Stormfish. Pengasas kumpulan ini adalah pemain bass Fendi, yang berhijrah ke Kuala Lumpur dari Taiping, Perak. Stormfish dimulakannya bersama kawan-kawan yang juga berasal dari Taiping, iaitu Joe Mechanic (dram) dan Azrin (gitar). Apabila Joe Mechanic kembali ke Taiping, ia telah diganti oleh Adam.

Ahli-ahli Stormfish dikala itu sentiasa berkumpul di Central Market, dimana pelbagai kumpulan-kumpulan underground generasi kedua mula bertapak dan bergaul dengan generasi pertama seperti Blackfire, Nemesis, Punisher, Rator dan lain-lain. Kebanyakkan mereka suka berlatih atau menjalankan rehearsal di studio-studio jamming sekitar Pertama Kompleks, terutama di Amerah Studio.

Pada awal 1992, pemain gitar dan vokalis kumpulan Deflowered, Joe Kidd, yang sentiasa mengikuti sesi jamming Stormfish sebagai pemerhati mula menjadi ahli tetap. Pada mulanya sebagai pemain bass tetapi tidak lama kemudian ia bertukar sebagai pemain gitar.

Dalam pertengahan 1992, Stormfish ditukar nama kepada Carburetor Dung (sebuah nama yang pernah diguna oleh Joe Kidd untuk kumpulan pertamanya dalam tahun 1990). Apabila Adam mula menhadapi masalah untuk hadir ke sesi rehearsal, beliau telah diganti oleh pemain dram baru Shahlan.

Sama seperti Joe Kidd, Shahlan berasal dari Terengganu dan pernah bermain dram dengan kumpulan Punk Rock awalan Terengganu seperti Mallaria dan juga The Stoned Crows. Tidak lama selepas Shahlan menjadi ahli baru, pemain gitar asal Azrin terpaksa keluar untuk menumpukan perhatian terhadap pembelajarannya. Nota: Pada akhir 1992 Azrin muncul dengan kumpulan barunya Subculture.

Joe Kidd - gitar/vokal, Fendi - bass/vokal and Shahlan - dram, terus giat jamming sehingga mereka mendapatkan seorang lagi pemain gitar iaitu Pari (atau Shahpari) yang pada masa itu juga bergiat dengan kumpulan ART (atau Against Racism of Today). Pada akhir 1992, mereka dikemaskan lagi dengan pemain dram baru, Lan Bear, yang juga pemain gitar untuk Infectious Maggots dan ABC... Dead. Kedua-dua Lan Bear dan juga Pari berasal dari Negeri Sembilan. Dengan adanya Lan Bear, Shahlan mula menjadi penyanyi utama.

Setelah berdiam diri dari September 1999 ke Jun 2002, Carburetor Dung kembali dengan beberapa pemain dram sambilan, seperti Asma, Panther dan Meny (semuanya ahli-ahli kumpulan-kumpulan underground yang bertapak di Kuantan, Pahang). Pada masa ini line-up tetap kumpulan Carburetor Dung adalah Lee - vokal, Joe Kidd - gitar dan Fendi - bass.

Pada 31hb Disember 2002 Carburetor Dung beraksi dipentas di No Black Tie, sebagai menyambut Tahun Baru. Gig ini adalah gig terakhir Carburetor Dung dengan Lee sebagai penyanyi. Lee kemudiannya berhijrah ke Adelaide, Australia.

Carburetor Dung sekali lagi berdiam diri, walau bagaimana pun tiga lagu rakaman rehearsal mereka telah dikeluarkan didalam kompilasi Non-Conformity, keluaran Knot Records pada bulan Jun 2003

Sekarang

Pada bulan Disember 2003, Carburetor Dung mula aktif kembali dengan pemain dram Apuk (dari kumpulan Kuchalana). Mereka kemudian tampil dengan penyanyi baru Alak (dari kumpulan Pusher). Line-up ini, Joe Kidd - gitar, Fendi - bass, Apuk - dram dan Alak - vokal, merakamkan lagu Johnny untuk kompilasi The Dude Puked On My Lap, keluaran fanzine Coalition.

Mulai Disember 2004, Carburetor Dung sekali menukar pemain dram. Kali ini mereka menampilkan pemain dram veteran, Bullet, bekas ahli kumpulan Thrash Metal awalan seperti Nemesis dan juga Punisher. Line-up ini merakamkan lagu Mari Nanyi Menjilat untuk kompilasi Radio Malaya.

KUMPULAN ROCK LAGENDA - The A.C.A.B

Kumpulan A.C.A.B. merupakan sebuah kumpulan muzik Malaysia. Kumpulan A.C.A.B ditubuhkan pada penghujung tahun 1994.

Nama A.C.A.B. digunakan dari tahun 1994 hingga tahun 2003, ia kemudiannya di tukar kepada The A.C.A.B. berikutan penukaran genre muzik mereka iaitu daripada Oi! kepada rock indie.

Sejarah Penubuhan The A.C.A.B

Kumpulan A.C.A.B. diasaskan oleh dua orang remaja yang berasal dari Kuala Lumpur iaitu Magskin dan juga Eddie. Merekalah yang menubuhkan band ini ketika penerimaan muzik Oi! berada di paras membanggakan. Bagi melengkapkan kumpulan ini, mereka mengundang Sham, Anas serta Black dan kemudiannya sama-sama memulakan penerokaan muzik Oi! yang dicintai. Nama A.C.A.B. dipilih dan digunakan sehingga ke hari ini.

Dalam tahun 1995, A.C.A.B. merakamkan demo yang bertajuk "A.C.A.B" yang memuatkan tujuh buah lagu. Antaranya seperti "Unfairground", "City Girl", "A.C.A.B.", "Fight For Your Right" dan banyak lagi. Ia dikeluarkan oleh label mereka sendiri iaitu Brovver Brigade Records. Demo ini telah terjual melebihi 500 unit meskipun tidak mempunyai sebarang promosi rasmi. Berikutan dengan kejayaan itu, A.C.A.B. bersedia untuk berdepan dengan pengikut-pengikutnya. Hari yang menentukan kemampuan A.C.A.B. beraksi itu telah diadakan di Dynasty Night Club di Ipoh. Itulah persembahan pertama mereka. Namun tiada siapa yang menduga, hampir kesemua pembeli demo mereka turun untuk menyaksikan persembahan mereka, termasuklah khalayak yang diimport khas dari Kuala Lumpur.

Persinggahan band ini bukan setakat di sana sahaja. Sebagai "Godfather Of Skinhead/Oi!", mereka terus memanjangkan langkah ke serata pelusuk tempat. Persembahan demi persembahan dibuat bagi mengumpul lebih ramai rakan baru. Perancangan A.C.A.B. begitu tepat pada waktunya, menjadikan mereka benar-benar dipuja. Malahan lagu-lagu yang terdapat di dalam demo mereka itu dinobatkan sebagai lagu rasmi pengikut skinhead senegara dan sekaligus memecah revolusi. Kepesatan muzik ini akhirnya menjadi pendorong sehingga wujudnya lebih banyak band dengan konsep yang sama. Berfaktorkan itulah, arena ini menjadi semakin berkembang dengan jayanya. Antara band yang berjaya mengikut jejak A.C.A.B. ialah Boot-Off, Skin Rovers, Opponent dan lain-lain lagi.

Pada tahun seterusnya, A.C.A.B. merakamkan EP yang pertama mereka yang berjudul "UNITE & FIGHT". Beberapa insiden telah berlaku semasa EP ini sedang dibuat. Antaranya penarikan diri Anas dan Black. Sungguhpun demikian, EP ini selamat disiapkan dengan kerjasama profesional dari Magskin, Eddie, Sham dan seorang anggota baru di posisi drum iaitu Zul. UNITE & FIGHT bukan sahaja diagihkan kepada pengikut tempatan tetapi juga dipasarkan ke luar negara. EP ini terjual sehingga 2000 unit. Seperti biasa aktiviti persembahan diteruskan selepas itu. Tidak lama kemudian aktiviti band itu terpaksa diberhentikan buat sementara waktu kerana masalah yang melanda. Dalam tahun 1997, Zul pula mengambil keputusan menarik diri dari A.C.A.B. Posisi drum telah digantikan oleh Eddie sendiri manakala Magskin memikul tugas sebagai vokalis dan gitaris. Ketika A.C.A.B. semakin roboh, mereka sempat merakamkan LP "Eastern Oi!" dan single "We Are The Skins".

Malangnya, selepas selesai sahaja proses rakaman, label mereka mengalami masalah kewangan. Maka dengan itu terpaksalah mereka menjual kedua-dua master tape tadi kepada Strange Culture Records. We Are The Skins dipasarkan pada tahun berikutnya, manakala Eastern Oi! menemui peminatnya pada tahun 1999. Dari kedua-kedua produk tersebut, hanya Eastern Oi! sahaja yang berjaya menepati target mereka, di mana ia terjual sebanyak 10 000 unit dalam masa yang singkat. Sungguhpun begitu, jualan LP yang memberangsangkan tidak berjaya memulihkan semangat dan masalah dalaman A.C.A.B. Satu demi satu anggotanya mengundur diri beralasankan peribadi.

Ketika ini, tinggal Magskin seorang yang masih setia mencari jalan penyudah kembali megah kembali seperti sebelumnya. Ikrar tetap digenggam. Walau apa pun yang terjadi, A.C.A.B. takkan terkubur. Magskin melepaskan segala kesedihannya melalui sebuah lagu iaitu RINTANGAN HIDUP DUNIA yang dirakamkan untuk album TRIBUTE TO RUSTY BLADE. Alaf baru 2000, misi baru A.C.A.B. terlaksana. Mereka bukan sahaja raja di pentas gig, tetapi jugak bertakhta di pentas konsert. Stadium Negara dan Bukit Jalil menjadi saksi kebanggaan A.C.A.B. dengan lebih ramai penonton. Memandangkan ia menjadi satu sejarah, persembahan di kedud-dua konsert itu telah diabadikan di dalam satu album iaitu LIVE & LOUD yang dikeluarkan oleh Clockwork Records dan terjual sehingga 10 000 unit.

Dalam tahun 2001, A.C.A.B. terlibat dalam album TRIBUTE TO SWEET CHARITY terbitan EMI. Lagu 'Musibah' dibawakan dengan cara mereka sendiri. Pada waktu yang sama, Sham kembali ke pangkian band ini dan Eddie juga dipanggil semula untuk sama-sama mengembalikan detik kegemilangan A.C.A.B. pada suatu ketika dahulu. Bukan mudah untuk mendapatkan semula khidmat Eddie kerana dia begitu sibuk dengan band Skanya iaitu, Gerhana Ska Cinta. Namun demi kasihnya terhadap band ini, akhirnya dia bersetuju dan kelima-lima mereka membuka lembaran baru menerusi gig Eastern Oi!

Kini mereka terus berbangga dengan kejayaan album kedua mereka, SKINHEAD 4 LIFE yang diragut 4000 pembeli dalam tempoh sebulan ia dipasarkan. Turut dipasarkan terdahulu ialah album koompilasi DAYS OF BEING WILD dan juga single STREETS OF UPTOWN. Penampilan baru A.C.A.B. memberi kelainan berbeza berbanding dengan album yang terdahulu. Muzik dan mesej yang disematkan jauh berbeza mengikut peredaran zaman. Sememangnya jauh lebih baik dengan guitarwork dan basslines yang lebih padat, hentakan drum yang lebih padat serta vokal Magskin yang lebih bersemangat.

Pada tahun 2006, setelah Megat hafiz kembali ke Malaysia, A.C.A.B. muncul kembali dengan nama baru iaitu The A.C.A.B. serta memperjuangkan genre muzik baru iaitu rock indie, muzik yang menarik minat Max Hafiz(Megat Hafiz) ketika menuntut di London.

Album mereka yang berjudul 'This Is The A.C.A.B.' dikeluarkan pada 09 Mac 2006 yang lalu menampilkan line-up baru; Max, Eddie, Irfan dan Mono.

Sebuah filem yang menyentuh isu kerosakkan akhlak di kalangan remaja dan mengupas ragam kehidupan gadis-gadis zaman sekarang yang bebas dewasa tanpa bimbingan ibubapa yang terlalu sibuk mencari wang bagi menyara kehidupan. Aleesya, Sofea dan Hani merupakan tiga rakan rapat yang mempunyai latarbelakang keluarga yang berbeza. Masing-masing juga mempunyai pandangan berbeza tentang Islam, berdasarkan cara mereka dibesarkan oleh ibubapa masing-masing. Aleesya mempunyai didikan agama yang asas – boleh mengaji dan tahu sembahyang.
Namun, membesar dalam persekitaran yang serba moden dan sosial menyebabkan beliau leka pada tuntutan agama. Sofea pula dibesarkan tanpa didikan agama, Sofea dibesarkan dalam suasana serba kebaratan, Sofea tidak tahu solat dan tak tahu mengaji. Hidupnya penuh dosa dan noda sehingga dia kurang tenang walaupun mempunyai segalagalanya. Hani pula membesar dalam keluarga yang susah. Beliau kurang didikan agama lantaran ibubapa yang terlalu sibuk mencari sesuap nasi untuk mereka sekeluarga. Hani senantiasa menyalahkan ibubapanya dan adakala salahkan Tuhan kerana tidak mengubah nasib beliau sekeluarga. Untuk hidup senang, beliau mengambil jalan mudah, menjadi pengedar dadah secara kecil-kecilan dan menjerumus dalam hidup penuh noda, dunia yang mana semuanya ‘halal’.
Hani mendapat bekalan dadah daripada teman lelakinya, Zachery, yang merupakan ketua pengedar dadah di kawasan flat tempat tinggalnya. Perbezaan pandangan mereka tidak menghalang persahabatan mereka bertiga sehingga kemunculan Firdaus, sepupu Aleesya yang warak. Firdaus pentingkan hukum Tuhan dan beliau sedar, sebagai seorang Islam yang berpendidikan, adalah menjadi tanggungjawabnya untuk mendidik saudara Islam yang terlencong. Firdaus yang berasal dari kampung, datang ke Kuala Lumpur untuk mengikuti kursus keusahawanan, dan menumpang di rumah bapa saudaranya yang juga bapa kepada Aleesya. Menyedari Aleesya hilang arah, Firdaus sering menegur tindak tanduk Aleesya, menyebabkan Aleesya amat membenci Firdaus kerana terlalu ‘menjaga tepi kainnya’.
Namun, kehadiran Firdaus mulai mengubah diri Sofea yang mencari ketenangan. Sofea yang sudah puas hidup tanpa agama, menemui ketenangan apabila berkawan dengan Firdaus. Menerusi Firdaus, Sofea belajar tentang Islam dan mulai menyintai agama yang selama ini, sekadar status di kad pengenalannya. Kemesraan antara Firdaus dan Sofea, menyebabkan Sofea mula renggang dari Aleesya dan Hani. Sofea yang mahu Aleesya berubah mulai dimusuhi Aleesya yang menyangka Sofea berlakon untuk meniduri Firdaus. Apabila Sofea mengikut Firdaus ke kampung, bagi mendalami Islam tanpa gangguan, Aleesya semakin liar dan mula hilang pertimbangan sehingga sanggup mengikut Hani ke dalam dunia ‘pil khayal dan parti seks bebas’. Semasa mengikuti sebuah parti seks yang dianjurkan oleh Zachery, Aleesya ‘hilang dara’, menyebabkan beliau tersedar dari kebodohannya.
Hani yang sudah lama ‘hilang dara’ cuba tenangkan Aleesya dan memberitahunya, pada zaman sekarang, dara tidak penting. Menyedari beliau bukan dara lagi, Aleesya yang hilang maruah, mengambil keputusan untuk bertaubat dan mendekatkan diri dengan Allah. Beliau meminta bantuan Firdaus untuk mendidiknya juga menyelamatkan maruahnya dengan cara menikahinya. Aleesya ditemani Hani, pergi ke kampung Firdaus. Permintaan Aleesya menyebabkan Firdaus berada dalam dilemma, kerana Firdaus yang sudah tertarik pada Sofea, berjanji mahu mengahwini Sofea. Sofea pula memberitahu Firdaus bahawa walaupun dia hidup tanpa agama, dia masih dara kerana dia berpegang pada pegangan bahawa, ‘mahkotanya’ hanya untuk seorang lelaki yang boleh mendidiknya menjadi isteri yang baik.

Novel American is an American rock band from Nashville, Tennesse, formed in 2011. They were formed following guitarist Josh Farro's departure from Paramore and consists of Farro, former Cecil Adora members Van Beasly (lead vocals) and Ryan Clark (bass, backing vocals). Tyler Ward was the band's drummer before being replaced by Farro's brother and former Paramore band mate Zac Farro.

Formation (2010–present)

Guitarist Josh Farro was a member of Paramore, having formed the band with brother Zac as well as Hayley Williams. After releasing three successful studio albums, both Josh and Zac departed the band in 2010. Though initially unsure if he wanted to be in another band, Farro jammed with friends, former Cecil Adora members Van Beasley, Ryan Clark and Tyler Ward. They decided to form another band, choosing the name Novel American, which was suggested by Farro's wife. The group plans to record an EP as well as play local venues in the near future. It was announced in February that Josh's brother Zac became the band's new drummer in place of Ward.

Former Paramite (that sounds alarmingly close to parasite) Josh Farro is putting all the Paramore drama in the past as he steps out with his new band Novel American! The band consists of Van Beasley, Tyler Ward and Ryan Clark, formerly known as Cecil Adora, and he knows the boys from high school!

At first the Paramore split seemed fairly amicable with Hayley Williams stating "None of us were really shocked. For the past year, it hasn't seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore ... We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy, and if that isn't here with us, then we support them in finding happiness elsewhere."
But when Josh released a 1442 word statement (yes pretty much an essay) in which he said the band were "riding on the coattails of 'Hayley's dream.' " We quickly realised that there might have actually been a slight bit of tension!

Josh said "[Paramore fans] just don't want this to be some dragged-out drama-fest. They just want to move on, I watched [MTV News' 'Paramore: The Last Word' interview], and, you know, I think we just disagree on a lot of things, and that's OK. I don't think it's wrong to disagree with someone, so, um, yeah, I just wish them the best in the future, and I really don't want to make it this huge drama thing, because then it becomes this huge war, and I don't want to dwell on that. I'm more excited about the future and this new band and that sort of thing."

Paramore is an American rock band from Franklin, Tennessee, formed in 2004. The band consists of lead vocalist Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis, and guitarist Taylor York. The group released its debut album All We Know Is Falling in 2005, and its second album Riot! in 2007, which was certified Platinum in the US and Gold in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. Brand New Eyes, Paramore's third album, was released in 2009 and is the band's highest charting album to date.

2002–2004: Formation

In 2002, at age 13, vocalist Hayley Williams moved from her hometown Meridian, Mississippi to Franklin, Tennessee where she met brothers Josh Farro and Zac Farro while she was attending a private school.Shortly after arriving, she began taking vocal lessons with Brett Manning. Prior to forming Paramore, Williams and bassist Jeremy Davis, along with friend Kimee Read, took part in a funk cover band called The Factory, while Josh and Zac Farro had practiced together after school. The other members of what was soon to be Paramore had been "edgy about the whole female thing" of having Williams as vocalist, but, because they were really good friends, she started writing for them. Williams said of the guys when she first met them, "They were the first people I met who were as passionate about music as I was." The band was officially formed by Josh Farro (lead guitar/backing vocals), Zac Farro (drums), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar) and Hayley Williams (lead vocals) in 2004, with the later addition of Williams' neighbor Jason Bynum (rhythm guitar). When Davis showed up, he was stunned to find out the drummer was only twelve years old. He admitted "I had very, very, very, little faith in everyone in the band because of their age. I remember thinking, 'This is not going to work because this kid is way too young,' but that first day of practice was amazing. I knew we were on to something."According to Williams, the name "Paramore" came from the maiden name of the mother of one of their first bass players. Once the group learned the meaning of the homophone "paramour" ("secret lover"), they decided to adopt the name, using the Paramore spelling.

Williams was originally signed to Atlantic Records as a solo artist in 2003.[10] She had been introduced to Atlantic A&R Tom Storms through Kent Marcus and Jim Zumwalt, lawyers of managers Dave Steunebrink and Richard Williams, and then eventually signed to Atlantic by Jason Flom. Steunebrink and Richard Williams had originally discovered and signed her to a production deal that was later bought out by Atlantic. The original plan of the label was to turn her into a pop singer, but Williams resisted, saying that she wanted to play alternative rock music and wanted a band behind her. In an interview with HitQuarters the band's A&R at Atlantic, Steve Robertson, said, "She wanted to make sure that we didn’t look at her as some straight to Top 40 pop princess. She wanted to make sure that she and her band got the chance to show what they can do as a rock band writing their own songs." Label president Julie Greenwald and the label staff decided to go with her wishes. The original management team for the band was Dave Steunebrink, Creed manager Jeff Hanson, and Hanson's assistant Mark Mercado.

Paramore were originally supposed to come out on Atlantic Records but the label's marketing department decided it would be better for the image of the band to not have them attached to a major label. They instead released their music through a cooler niche label in Fueled by Ramen.

Head of Warner Music Group, Lyor Cohen had already identified Fueled by Ramen as a label they should partner with and it was decided the rock label would make an ideal match for Paramore. According to Robertson, when the band were presented to Fueled by Ramen's CEO John Janick, "he got the vision of the band immediately." Janick went to a Taste of Chaos performance in Orlando, Florida to see the band perform live. In April 2005, after a smaller private performance at a warehouse, the band was signed to Atlantic Records and Fueled By Ramen.

The band's first song written together was "Conspiracy", which was later used on their debut album. In 2004, they were a featured band in Purple Door. At this time, they were touring the southeast, usually being driven by Williams' parents. She commented that "Back then, I guess we were all thinking, after school we'll go to the house and practice. It was what we loved to do for fun, and still do! I don't think any of us really knew this would turn out to be what it's become."
2005–2006: All We Know Is Falling

Paramore traveled back to Orlando, Florida, but shortly after arriving, Jeremy Davis left the band, citing personal reasons. The remaining four members of Paramore continued with the album, writing "All We Know" about his departure, and later deciding to base All We Know Is Falling around the concept. The album artwork also reflected Paramore's grief as Hayley Williams explains, "The couch on the cover of All We Know is Falling with no one there and the shadow walking away; it's all about Jeremy leaving us and us feeling like there's an empty space." Recording took three weeks, and promotional material for the album only featured the four remaining members.

Before touring, the band added John Hembree (bass guitar) to their line up to replace Jeremy Davis. During that summer, Paramore was featured on the Shira Girl stage of the 2005 Warped Tour. After being asked by the band, Jeremy Davis returned to Paramore after five months apart, replacing Hembree. All We Know Is Falling was released on July 24, 2005, and reached #30 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Chart. Paramore released "Pressure" as its first single, with a video directed by Shane Drake, but the song had failed to place in the charts. The video featured the band performing in a warehouse, eventually getting sprayed with water sprinklers as the storyline of a conflicted couple occurs. In July, "Emergency" was released as the second single, the video again reuniting the band with director Shane Drake and featuring Hunter Lamb (rhythm guitar), who replaced Jason Bynum.The video for "Emergency" showcased Paramore in another performance, this time fixing the members bloody costumes. The third single, "All We Know", was released with limited airtime, with the video consisting of a collection of live performances and backstage footage.

In January 2006, the band took part in the Winter Go West tour where they played alongside Seattle bands Amber Pacific and The Lashes. In February, Hayley Williams was featured on "Keep Dreaming Upside Down" by October Fall. In spring of 2006, Paramore was an opening act on headlining tours for both Bayside and soon afterwards, The Rocket Summer. They toured the United Kingdom from October 5 to October 15, 2006, where they ended in London at The Mean Fiddler. The band then covered Foo Fighters' "My Hero" for the Sound of Superman soundtrack which was released on June 26, 2006.

During the summer of 2006, Paramore played a portion of Warped Tour, primarily on the Volcom and Hurley Stages, and their first night on the Main Stage was at a date in their hometown of Nashville. Paramore's first United States headlining tour began on August 2, 2006 to a sold-out audience with support from This Providence, Cute Is What We Aim For, and Hit the Lights with the final show in Nashville. That year they were voted "Best New Band", and Hayley Williams was voted as #2 "Sexiest Female", by readers of the British magazine Kerrang!.

In 2007, Hunter Lamb left the group to get married, and Paramore continued onward as a quartet. Paramore was then named by British magazine NME as one of ten bands to watch out for in their "New Noise 2007" feature. In January, the band played an acoustic set for the grand opening of a Warped Tour exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the dress Hayley Williams wore in the video for "Emergency" was also put on display in the exhibit.

Paramore was featured in Kerrang! magazine once more, however, Hayley Williams believed the article was an untrue portrayal of the band, particularly because it focused on her as the main component. Afterwards, Williams addressed the issue in the band's LiveJournal, with a post saying, "we could’ve done without a cover piece. sorry, if it offends anyone at Kerrang! but i don’t think there was one bit of truth in that article." In April, Hayley Williams' vocals were featured in "Then Came To Kill" by The Chariot. They headlined a tour in early 2007 with This Providence, The Almost and Love Arcade.

2011–present: Paramore without the Farro brothers

On January 10, 2011, in an interview with MTV, Hayley Williams has said that despite the band losing two of its founding members, they will be releasing new music in 2011, though it is not known yet if they'll manage to record a full album for release this year, or just release some songs. The singer also admitted that Paramore's style was likely to change with the new lineup, but clarified that the band would still retain their signature sound.

On February 2, 2011, Josh Farro confirmed the name of his new band, Novel American.Zac has also confirmed his new band, Half Noise.

On February 17, 2011, Hayley Williams has confirmed that the band will be hitting the studio upon returning from their South American tour, to record a batch of songs to be released over the summer, prior to a new full-length album that might follow late this year or in 2012. One of the new songs to be released include "In the Mourning", which Williams recently debuted on her Tumblr page.

On March 21, 2011, Paramore stated on their various social networking accounts that they were entering a studio in Los Angeles with producer Rob Cavallo to record their next album.

Three Seattle musicians who play what has become known as "grunge" rock seemed an unlikely bet for acceptance into the rock and roll establishment. Decidedly punkish in their musical style—albeit at a slower pace than was the hallmark of punk rock— strident in their lyrics, and unapologetic of their calcu-lated-to-offend offstage personalities, the group nonetheless went from the "underground" status of their initial release, Bleach, to mega-stardom with their first major-label effort, Nevermind, within the space of a few years. The latter, featuring Kurt Cobain on guitar and vocals, Chris Novoselic on bass, and David Grohl on drums, jumped to the Number One spot on the Billboard rock chart and was cited in many music critics’ Top Ten lists just months after its release.

Cobain and Novoselic grew up near Seattle, in Aberdeen, Washington, a secluded logging town 70 miles southwest of Seattle known largely for its overcast climate. Cobain’s youth was often chaotic—he lived in a trailer park with his cocktail waitress mother after the breakup of his parents’ marriage. Before his parents

split up, Cobain’s mother recounted in Rolling Stone, he "got up every day with such joy that there was another day to be had. When we’d go downtown to the stores, he would sing to people." After the divorce, though, Cobain’s personality underwent a transformation. "I think he was ashamed," his mother continued, "and he became very inward—he just held everything."

Until the age of nine, Cobain listened mostly to the Beatles. Then his father introduced him to heavier fare—Led Zeppelin, Kiss, and Black Sabbath. He started playing drums and hanging around with an Aberdeen group called the Melvins. Melvins leader Buzz Osborne took Cobain to a Black Flag concert, where he got his first taste of hard-core punk. Cobain was awed; he began to experiment with the guitar and tried to form a band. "I learned one Cars song and AC/DCs ‘Back in Black, " he told Elle. "And after that I just started writing my own. I didn’t feel it was important to learn other songs because I knew I wanted to start a band." After repeatedly failing to get a group together, Osborne suggested that Cobain hook up with Chris Novoselic, a tall, shy Aberdeen kid two years older than Cobain.

Cobain and Novoselic Bound by Punk
According to Nirvana’s record company press biography, Cobain and Novoselic had met at the Grays Harbor Institute of Northwest Crafts, where they were apparently "gluing seashells and driftwood on burlap" and making mobiles of macaroni. Like Cobain, Novoselic had moved around a lot as a kid—they felt they were both misfits in a way. They further shared an appreciation for the hard-core music that was generally shunned by their heavy metal-loving peers. A tape of the San Francisco punk band Flipper cemented their commitment to the genre. "It made me realize there was something more cerebral to listen to than stupid cock rock," Novoselic told Elle. Exhibiting total rebellion against what they saw as the red-necked, macho establishment of their hometown, they spray painted the phrases "God is Gay," "Abort Jesus," and "Homosexual sex rules," on cars and bank buildings. For one offense Cobain was arrested and fined.

Cobain’s mother kicked him out of the house after he quit high school. Homeless, he slept on friends’ couches and even briefly found lodging under a bridge. By 1987, however, he and Novoselic were beginning to gain a reputation as Nirvana and were a hit at parties at Evergreen State College in Olympia.

With the help of Melvins drummer Dale Crover, the trio began to record, finishing ten songs in one afternoon taping session. The resulting demo was submitted to Sub Pop, Seattle’s then-underground label, the directors of which signed them to a record contract right away. In 1988, after changing drummers, the band recorded Bleach in six days for $606.17. The album moved slowly at first, but eventually sold 35,000 copies between its debut and the release of the band’s second effort, which caused a surge of Bleach sales.

Caught in Bidding War
After Bleach, Nirvana began looking for yet another drummer, this time settling, in the fall of 1990, on Dave Grohl of the Washington, D.C., band Scream. This lineup returned to the studio to find that the Nirvana sound had improved significantly. When Sub Pop sought a distributor for the upcoming second album, a bidding war ensued among record labels interested in buying Nirvana out of their Sub Pop contract. The group eventually signed to DGC, home of giants Guns ‘n’ Roses and Cher, for $287,000. Rumors persisted, however, that the label had shelled out up to $750,000 to obtain the trio. Cobain commented in Spin that those reports were "journalism through hearsay," adding that "the numbers kept getting bigger so that a lot of people believed that we were signed for a million dollars."

The group had mixed feelings about signing to a major label; they feared they would be labeled "sellouts" for trading their underground status for the promise of big money. But the opportunity to get their music heard by a larger audience—and thus spread their message to the mainstream—mitigated these concerns. Nirvana released Nevermind in the spring of 1991; the record took three weeks to record and earned the trio $135,000. Producer Butch Vig instinctively felt that the unintelligible, but mesmerizing, cut "Smells like Teen Spirit" would be a hit, even before it was completed in the studio. "It was awesome sounding," he told Rolling Stone. "I was pacing around the room, trying not to jump up and down in ecstasy."

Nevermind a Phenomena
Vig’s prophecy came true: The Nevermind single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" soared to Number One after only a few months of airplay. The accompanying video, featuring a somewhat sinister high school pep rally—Cobain has said the song is about teenage apathy—complete with tattooed cheerleaders, a bald custodian, writhing fans, and pointedly unkempt band members, received heavy rotation on MTV. "Smells" earned perhaps the ultimate tribute when it was lampooned by rock parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic, whose own video was entitled "Smells Like Nirvana." And yet the most distinguishing aspect of Nevermind may have been that, as New York Times contributor Karen Schoemer pointed out, "Nirvana didn’t cater to the mainstream; it played the game on its own terms…. What’s unusual about [the album] is that it caters to neither a mainstream audience nor the indie rock fans who supported the group’s debut album…." Calling the release "one of the best alternative rock albums produced by an American band in recent years," Schoemer continued, "Nevermind is accessible but not tame. It translates the energy and abandon of college rock in clear, certain terms."

In performance, Nirvana pays homage to angry punks past—dating as far back as the mid-1960s guitar destruction of then-"mod" Pete Townshend, leader of Britain’s the Who—by smashing their equipment onstage; Cobain has estimated that he’s probably destroyed around 300 guitars. This behavior seems to please Nirvana’s legions of fans, who throng to their shows in anticipation of such antics.

Despite Nirvana’s rapid climb to the top, Cobain and company have tried to keep a balanced attitude. They rejected a limousine ride to their Saturday Night Live performance because they didn’t want to be treated like stars. Cobain has of late refrained from drugs and the standard rock-star revelry, partially in deference to a recurring and painful stomach ailment. When questioned about the band’s success, Cobain revealed in Elle "Well, it’s a fine thing and a flattering thing, but it doesn’t matter. We could be dropped in two years and go back to putting out records ourselves and it wouldn’t matter to us, because success is not what we were looking for…. We just want people to be able to get the records."

The heavy metal band Def Leppard was formed in Sheffield, England in 1977; founding members included lead singer Joe Elliot (b. 1 August 1959), bassist Rick Savage (b. 2 December 1960) and guitarist Pete Willis. Drummer Rick Allen (b. 1 November 1963) and guitarist Steve Clark (b. 23 April 1960) joined the band shortly thereafter. Their debut album On Through the Night (1980) was a hit and Def Leppard joined groups like AC/DC and Ted Nugent among the heavy hitters of arena rock. Their 1983 album Pyromania (and its single "Rock of Ages") made them early stars of MTV. They kept playing through the 1980s and 1990s, emerging as elder statesmen of rock as the 21st century began. Their other albums include Hysteria (1987, including the hit single "Love Bites") and Euphoria (1999).

According to the band's official bio, their name was originally spelled Deaf Leopard... The band's early producer, Robert "Mutt" Lange, later produced (and married) country star Shania Twain... Drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm in a 1984 traffic accident, but learned to drum one-armed and continued on with the band... Willis was fired for drunkenness during the 1980s and replaced by guitarist Phil Collen... Rock group

Despite an average age of only 18, Def Leppard burst onto the heavy metal scene in 1980 like a group of seasoned veterans. "This band frequently transcends the mundane through sheer musical energy and playing ability," wrote Jim Schwartz in Guitar Player. In a genre known for cliched riffs and monotonous beats, these heavy metalheads have created a sound of their own while becoming one of the top-selling groups in rock ‘n’ roll. Tragedy has plagued the group throughout its 20-plus year history, but the band continues to write and record, finding success with almost every release.

The group’s five original members, Joe Elliott, Pete Willis, Steve Clark, Rick Savage, and Rick Allen, all lived in the steel-producing town of Sheffield, England. Before employment as a van driver, lead singer Elliott used to dream about forming a band in school, creating song lists, logos, and band names while others in his class were studying. "I figured out fairly early that I wasn’t gonna be a brain surgeon or a nuclear physicist," he told Rolling Stone,"so I fantasized about rock and roll."

Guitarist Willis was studying engineering at college when he met fellow axeman Clark. Already playing with

Savage on bass in the band Atomic Mass, Willis asked Clark to sit in, and he soon joined the group. With the addition of Elliott and drummer Allen, they changed their name to Deaf Leppard and later dropped the a. In July of 1978 they made their debut at Westfield School in Sheffield earning a grand total of $12.00. With a twin guitar assault reminiscent of Wishbone Ash, they began gigging in bars with a repertoire that included 50 percent of their own originals. "We always thought our songs would be good enough to get us by," Allen told John Swenson in Rolling Stone.

Britain experienced a new wave of heavy metal as the 1980s rolled in, and Def Leppard was in a prime position to cash in. They recorded a privately made EP, Getcha Rocks Off, which sold out its initial 24, 000 copies. AC/DC manager Peter Mensch picked up the group and convinced Polygram to sign them to a deal. In 1980 the chartbreaking On Through the Night was released, climbing all the way to number 51 in the United States. "We actually wrote the first album nine months before ever playing a live concert," Willis told Guitar Player. "We wanted to do it right from the start and be polished." Songs like "Rock Brigade," "Hello America," "When the Walls Come Tumbling Down," "Overture," "Sorrow is a Woman," and "Wasted" were recorded in just 18 days and made for a remarkably strong outing. "Displaying a wisdom beyond their years, Def Leppard take the timeworn basics of heavy metal, give them a punky Eighties overhaul and come up with, uh, heavy melody," stated David Fricke in Rolling Stone. "On Through the Night is awfully impressive for a band making its vinyl debut." The band then toured the United Kingdom opening for Sammy Haggar and AC/DC before coming Stateside to warm up audiences for Ted Nugent.

Their follow-up LP, High ‘n’ Dry, was an even bigger seller breaking the top ten. Their sound also expanded as "Bringin’ on the Heartbreak" stretched the metal boundaries even further. In 1982 Willis was replaced by ex-Girl guitarist Phil Collen who told Guitar World,"We offer a lot more melody than most heavy rock bands, vocally as well as musically." Def Leppard was now a headline act after only two albums, and Collen’s style differed enough from Willis’s to create a unique combination with Clark.

They employed the services of ace producer Mutt Lange for 1983’s Pyromania, another top-ten LP which eventually sold more than two million copies. The album also included three hit singles: "Photograph," "Rock of Ages," and "Foolin"’. By now the five members were being featured in teen magazines and ruling the MTV airwaves.

Tragedy struck the band on New Year’s Eve 1984, when drummer Rick Allen severed his left arm in an auto accident. Refusing to accept the conventional wisdom that such an injury would certainly end his musical career, Allen determined to relearn to play with the aid of a special drum kit. In a show of loyalty, the band didn’t replace Allen, deciding to remain on hiatus until he was able to return.

Lange was used again as producer on 1987’s Hysteria LP, and more hits followed. "Animal," "Women," "Hysteria," "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Armageddon It," and "Rocket" each received substantial airplay. In 1988 Def Leppard issued a 17-cut video entitled Historia providing an excellent summary of their musical career. "With its intriguing perspective and loads of superb, hard-driving solos, Historia will hopefully inspire other bands to release similar projects," wrote Jas Obrecht in Guitar Player.

Five years passed between the release of the multiplatinum Hysteria and its follow-up, Adrenalize, released in 1992. During the recording of Adrenalize, tragedy again struck the band. Founding guitarist Steve Clark was found dead in his apartment on January 8, 1991, from an apparent alcohol and prescription drug overdose. Clark had been an alcoholic for years, and his abuse problem left him nearly unable to function during the recording of Adrenalize. The drugs that he had taken before his death were painkillers prescribed to him after breaking three ribs earlier in the year.

The band dedicated Adrenalize to Clark, and released it a year after his death. They brought on a new guitarist for the subsequent tours to support the album, White-snake axeman Vivian Campbell, who became a permanent member of the group. David Hildebrand, a reviewer for People, deemed the album "superior to Def Leppard’s last release, 1987’s Hysteria," although he acknowledged that shifting tides of public taste meant the album wouldn’t be nearly as successful as it would have been five years earlier.

Def Leppard’s next two releases were greatest hits collections: Retro Active, released in 1993, and Vault, released in 1995. In support of Vault, Def Leppard accomplished something no band ever had: playing three shows on the same day on three different continents. They began October 23, 1995, in Tangiers, Morocco, hopped a plane to play a show in London, England, and closed out the day in Vancouver, Canada. That same year, drummer Rick Allen was arrested for beating his wife in an airport. He was later sentenced to community service and made public service announcements denouncing domestic abuse for MTV.

An album of new material, Slang, was released in 1996. By this time, heavy metal had waned considerably in popularity. Pop and grunge ruled the radio, and Def Leppard tried to modify their sound to fit the current climate. The band cited such varied influences as female rappers Salt-N-Pepa, R&B crooners Boyz II Men, and alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers in a People interview. "[W]hat we’ve always tried to do is take a bit from everything," Collen said. "Just mix it all up." But in trying to mold their music to current pop tastes, the band came up with a lackluster, poorly received album.

It was no surprise, then, that Def Leppard decided to return to its roots with 1999’s Euphoria. The band also reunited with Mutt Lange for this album, the producer who helmed the controls for some of Def Leppard’s greatest hits. "When a certain kind of music is successful," Allen remarked on CNN.com, "there’s going to be a backlash. We took a good, hard listen to our past stuff, and knew we wanted to make a really classic Def Leppard album." Billboard writer Larry Flick called the album "unabashedly bombastic" and noted that Euphoria "picks up where Hysteria left off."

Def Leppard’s next album, X, released in 2002, more than two decades after their debut album, met with surprisingly positive critical praise. "There isn’t a dog on this album," according to the Knight Ridder/Tribune New Service. The "elements boil down to classic Def Leppard, which stands for sugar-sweet pop-metal with occasional displays of flashy liquid guitar and high-pitched vocals that create good, thick harmonies." The varied elements work to the band’s advantage: "We’re on classic rock radio, and modern rock radio and pop radio, and that’s what we wanted, that cross-the-board appeal," Elliott said to the Asia Africa Intelligence Wire.

Perhaps what is most surprising about Def Leppard is the longevity of the band. Early 1980s contemporaries like Ratt and pop-metal posterboys Poison have long since disbanded, but Def Leppard remains relevant and as committed as ever to making music. "We could have retired in 1988 if this was about money," Elliott told the Asia Africa Intelligence Wire. The secret behind their continued success, as revealed to CNN.com, "We actually really like each other and that’s the biggest reason why [we’ve stayed together]. Every person has talked about leaving at one time or another, but we never did because we couldn’t think of anything else we’d like to do. And besides, it would be like leaving your family."

In a decade fueled by party anthems and power ballads, Poison enjoyed a great amount of popularity, with only Bon Jovi and Def Leppard outselling them. While the group had a long string of pop-metal hits, they soon became just as renowned for their stage show, and continued to be a major attraction long after the '80s came to a close (bringing the commercial downfall of pop-metal with it). Meanwhile, frontman Bret Michaels reinvented himself as a reality TV star in 2007, and his involvement in several TV shows -- particularly Rock of Love, Celebrity Apprentice, and Life as I Know It -- helped maintain the band's popularity in concert.

Formerly known as Paris, Poison was formed in 1984 by Bret Michaels, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett. After leaving their hometown of Harrisburg, PA, and resettling in L.A., the boys began holding auditions for a fourth member. Guitarist C.C. Deville got the gig, famously beating out future Guns N' Roses bandmate Slash in the process. With their lineup intact, Poison embraced a glammy, androgynous image and began playing shows in L.A., becoming masters of self-promotion and D.I.Y. advertising in the process. The hard work won them a contract with Enigma Records in 1986, and they released their first album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, that summer. The record spawned a pair of Top 40 hits, "Talk Dirty to Me" and "I Won't Forget You," and sold over two-million copies within a year of its release.

The band was already quite popular by the end of 1987, but 1988's Open Up & Say...Ahhh! proved to be Poison's commercial breakthrough, due to the massive hits "Fallen Angel," "Nothin' But a Good Time," and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" (which became the band's first chart-topping single). After a prosperous tour alongside David Lee Roth, the group returned to the studio to record Flesh and Blood in 1990. The album, which included the number three hit "Unskinny Bop" and the number four ballad "Something to Believe In," was another multi-platinum success, but it also signaled the end of Poison's glory days. While touring in support of Flesh and Blood (as documented on the double-disc concert album Swallow This Live), the band began falling apart, and an infamous appearance on MTV showed Deville performing "Talk Dirty to Me" with his guitar unplugged. The band broke into a brawl backstage after the disastrous performance.

Shortly after the release of Swallow This Live, Poison fired Deville due to his increasing addiction to drugs and alcohol. His replacement, 21 year-old Richie Kotzen, made his commercial debut with the band on 1993's Native Tongue. Despite some strong reviews and a hit single, "Stand," the album proved to be a commercial disappointment. Kotzen was fired during the subsequent tour, having reportedly struck up an illicit relationship with Rikki Rockett's fiancé, and solo artist/session guitarist Blues Saraceno became Poison's third guitarist. The band recorded its fifth studio album, Crack a Smile, for an intended release in 1996, but the record was shelved and replaced with the Greatest Hits: 1986-1996 disc instead. Toward the end of that year, Saraceno left and Deville returned to the band, a move that resulted in a successful reunion tour during the summer of 1999. The Crack a Smile sessions were finally released the following spring, followed by Power to the People, which paired five new songs with 12 live tracks from the band's comeback tour. However, another tour was cut short by an accident that left Dall with serious back surgery.

Following Dall's lengthy recovery, the band stepped into the studio and recorded Hollyweird, which was released in the summer of 2002. The following tour was promoted as a nostalgic experience and was funded by VH1, laying the brickwork for a lucrative relationship between the band and the television channel. Deville would later appear in the network's sixth season of The Surreal Life, while Michaels was awarded his own dating show, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. Hollyweird's reception was lukewarm at best, and Poison spent some time out of the spotlight while Michaels and Rockett released solo albums. They reconvened in 2006, celebrating their 20th anniversary with a nationwide tour and another greatest-hits album. Propelled by Michaels' new status as a reality TV star, The Best of Poison: 20 Years of Rock debuted inside the Billboard Top 20, a feat the band hadn't accomplished since Native Tongue. Bon Jovi is an American hard rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists of lead singer and namesake 'Jon Bon Jovi' (John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres as well as current bassist Hugh McDonald. The band's line-up has remained mostly static during their history, the only exception being the departure of Alec John Such in 1994, who was unofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald. The band became known for writing several rock anthems, and achieved widespread recognition with their third album Slippery When Wet, released in 1986. After touring and recording non-stop during the late 1980s, the band went on hiatus after the New Jersey Tour in 1990, during which time Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora both released successful solo albums. In 1992, the band returned with the album Keep the Faith. Their 2000 single "It's My Life", which followed a second hiatus, successfully introduced the band to a younger audience. Bon Jovi have been known to use different styles in their music, which has included country for their 2007 album Lost Highway. Their latest album, The Circle, was released on 10 November 2009 in the United States.

Throughout their career, the band have released eleven studio albums, three compilation albums and one live album, and have sold 130 million records worldwide.They have performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans, and were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006.The band was also honored with the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004,and as songwriters and collaborators, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.On September 28, 2010, Bon Jovi was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but on December 15, 2010 it was announced that Bon Jovi did not make it.

Formation (1982–83)

Jon Bon Jovi began playing piano and guitar in 1975 at thirteen with his first band 'Raze'. At the age of sixteen Bon Jovi met David Bryan and formed the 12-piece cover band Atlantic City Expressway. They played New Jersey clubs even though they were minors. Still in his teens, Bon Jovi played in the band John Bongiovi and the Wild Ones, playing local clubs like "The Fast Lane" and opening for known acts in the area. By 1980, he formed another band, "The Rest", and opened up for New Jersey acts such as Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

By mid-1982, out of school and working part time in a women's' shoe store, Jon Bon Jovi took a job at the Power Station Studios, a Manhattan recording facility where his cousin Tony Bongiovi was co-owner. Bon Jovi made several demos – including one produced by Billy Squier – and sent them to record companies but failed to make an impact. His first professional recording was lead vocal in "R2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas," which was part of the Christmas in the Stars album which his cousin co-produced.

Bon Jovi visited the local radio station WAPP 103.5FM "The Apple" in Lake Success, New York. He spoke directly to the promotion director John Lassman, who accepted the song "Runaway" for inclusion on the station's compilation album of local homegrown talent. Bon Jovi was initially reluctant but eventually gave them the song on which Bon Jovi had used studio musicians to play on the track "Runaway". The studio musicians who helped record "Runaway" – known as The All Star Review – were guitarist Tim Pierce, keyboardist Roy Bittan, drummer Frankie LaRocka, and bassist Hugh McDonald.

The song began to get airplay in the New York area, then other sister stations in major markets picked up the song. In March 1983 Bon Jovi called David Bryan, who in turn called bassist Alec John Such (b. Alec John Such, November 14, 1952, Yonkers, New York, USA) ex-Phantom's Opera and an experienced drummer named Tico Torres. Tapped to play lead guitar was Bon Jovi's neighbor, Dave Sabo (a.k.a. The Snake) who later formed the group Skid Row. Sabo was eventually replaced by Richie Sambora (b. Richard Stephen Sambora, July 11, 1959, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA). Before joining the group, Sambora had toured with Joe Cocker, played with a group called Mercy and had been called up to audition for Kiss. He also played on the album Lessons with the band Message, which was re-released on CD through Long Island Records in 1995. Message was originally signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song Records label, although the album was never released.

Tico Torres was also an experienced musician, having recorded and played live with Phantom's Opera, The Marvelettes, and Chuck Berry. He appeared on 26 records and had recently recorded with Franke and the Knockouts, a Jersey band with hit singles during the early 1980s.

David Bryan had quit the band he and Bon Jovi founded in order to study medicine. While in college, he realized he wanted to pursue music full-time and was accepted to Juilliard School, a New York music school. When Bon Jovi called his friend and said he was putting together a band and a record deal looked likely, Bryan followed Bon Jovi's lead and gave up his studies.
Early years (1984–85)

Once the band began playing showcases and opening for local talent, they caught the attention of record executive Derek Shulman, who signed them to Mercury Records and who was part of the PolyGramDoc McGhee, suggested they call themselves Bon Jovi, following the example of the other famous two word bands such as Van Halen. This name was chosen instead of the original idea of Johnny Electric. Pamela's suggestion of the name was met with little enthusiasm, but two years later they hit the charts under that name. company. With the help of their new manager Doc McGhee they recorded the band's debut album, Bon Jovi, which was released on January 21, 1984. The group found themselves opening for Scorpions in U.S. and for Kiss in Europe. In August of 1984 the band made an appearance at the Super Rock Festival as a special guest in Japan. However, "Runaway" became a hit and Bon Jovi attracted the attention in Japan. Bon Jovi got the very first gold disc for their first album in Japan. The album peaked at #43 on the Billboard 200 album chart in U.S. and a year after its release, it was certified Gold by RIAA.

In 1985, Bon Jovi's second album 7800° Fahrenheit was released. The band released three singles "Only Lonely", "In And Out Of Love" and the ballad "Silent Night". The album peaked at #37 on Billboard 200 and certified Gold in U.S. While the album did not do as well as they'd hoped in terms of sales, it allowed Bon Jovi to get out on the road touring again. Their first Japanese performances as headliner which had been done immediately after the release of the album and eight shows in total became sold-out all, and the album hit the Top 5 and certified Gold in Japan.

In May 1985, Bon Jovi headlined venues in UK and Europe. 7800 Fahrenheit peaked at #28 in UK and #40 in Germany. At the end of the European tour, the band began a 6-month run of U.S. tourdates supporting Ratt. In the midst of that tour they managed to make appearances at the Texas Jam and Castle Donnington's Monsters of Rock concerts in England. Jon Bon Jovi also did a solo appearance at the very first Farm Aid in 1985.

INFORMATION STEEL HEART'S

Hailing from Norwalk, CT, Steelheart was one of the last hair metal bands to score a hit with a power ballad, just before Nirvana and their ilk exterminated the genre completely. Originally called Red Alert, the quartet (which included Croatian singer Michael Matijevic, guitarist Chris Risola, bassist James Ward, and drummer Frank Dicostanzo) spent most of the 1980s playing the tri-state area and honing an energetic act. After years of hard work, the bandmates headed west to Los Angeles, signed with MCA Records, and changed their name to Steelheart.

In 1991, Steelheart released their self-titled debut, most notable for its octave-spanning vocals and a pair of hit power ballads: "Never Let You Go," which reached number 14 on the Billboard singles chart; and "She's Gone," which fared well internationally. The band quickly began work on its sophomore effort, Tangled in Reins, which was released a year later. But tragedy was lurking just around the corner -- at a Halloween show opening for Slaughter at McNichol's Arena in Denver, CO, Matijevic was struck in the head by a lighting truss, knocking him to the ground face first and injuring his skull, jaw, nose, and spine. The country's musical climate changed dramatically during Matijevic's recovery, resulting in the band calling it a day shortly thereafter. But by 2000, the group had re-formed and issued a third album, titled Wait, with Matijevic serving as the only original member. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi

The early years (1990-1992)

Steelheart released their self-titled debut album in 1990. It sold 33,000 albums on its first day in Japan alone, and quickly hit platinum status. The ballad "She's Gone" which showcased Matijevic's wide vocal range hit #1 on the International Charts, staying there for 17 weeks.[citation needed] The ballad maintains its popularity in East Asian region until today. It has been played by most of the cover bands those performing in the nightclubs in this region almost every night. It also has been covered by a band in Malaysia who called themselves NRG on the 5th track in their debut album 'Cenderajiwa' in 1992. The second single "I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes)" reached #14 on the billboard charts, and was MTV's 2nd most requested video.[citation needed] The album reached #40 on the billboard charts. "Everybody Loves Eileen" and its accompanying video also garnered much success.[citation needed] The song "Can't Stop Me Lovin' You" further showcased Matijevic's vocal range, but this time, lead guitarist Risola's guitar skills were also noticed. The accompanying video was another of the band's hits.

Steelheart's sophomore album, "Tangled In Reins" with many songs containing sounds more like Guns N' Roses than its debut. The song "Steelheart" featured Matijevic hitting his highest note of all the three albums. Since grunge invasion was taking force, the album only reached #144 on the billboard charts. However the ballad "Mama Don't You Cry" charted #1 in many East Asian Countries,[citation needed] including Hong Kong, prompting their Asian tour in September, 1992. The MTV unplugged version in Hong Kong was a success, attracting an audience of over 10,000. After weeks of touring in Asia, Steelheart was later asked by the heavy metal band, Slaughter, to go on tour with them. Nearing the end of the tour, Slaughter asked Steelheart to perform one last show which would occur in Denver, Colorado. The show took place on Halloween night. While performing, "Dancing in the Fire", a hit from the "Tangled in Reins" album, Matijevic decided to climb a lighting truss, which was improperly secured. Matijevic tried to dodge the massive rig, but without success. The 1000 pound truss hit Matijevic on the back of the head and he fell face first onto the stage, breaking his nose, cheekbone, and jaw, and twisting his spine. Matijevic managed to walk off the stage and he was immediately taken to a hospital. "Steelheart" ended that night.
Wait (1996)

Four years later, Matijevic formed a new version of Steelheart with Kenny Kanowski (guitars), Vincent Mele (bass) and Alex Makarovich (drums) to record and release the album "Wait". The album was very different from the previous two albums. The single "Wait" went #1 in many Asian countries, however that was the main area of the album's success, the grunge invasion causing the American European markets to be near closed to classic rock. Original member James Ward joined Steelheart on the tour supporting the album. Also on the "Wait" album, "We All Die Young", the first track, was in the motion picture, "Rock Star," starring Mark Wahlberg. Matijevic stated that "Wait" was the choice of the title because it took a long time to gain freedom from the record company and his greedy manager, who was taking more than what was his.
Rock Star (2001)

In 2001, Matijevic provided the some of the vocals for Mark Wahlberg's character in the movie, Rock Star, a story about a music fan who gets to become the singer for his favorite band. The band itself was made up of Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne's former guitarist and frontman of Black Label Society), Jeff Pilson (Dokken) and Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. The film also featured a re-recording of the song "We All Die Young", from the Steelheart's third album Wait. Kenny Kanowski went on to record his new CD with Vincent Mele on bass, and various musicians from Los Angeles. His newest CD is entitled Yabble Diddy Woop Woop which has gotten rave reviews.
Reunion, Just a Taste and Good 2B Alive (2006–present)

According to the Steelheart website, a new album Good 2b Alive was due out November 11. 2008. Currently, the Just a Taste is available to order from the website as well as being available live on their most recent tour of the same name. It features three tracks from the upcoming Good 2b Alive, "LOL (Laughing Out Loud)", "Twisted Future", and "Buried Unkind", as well as the previously released track "We All Die Young", from Steelheart's album Wait. The EP is also a preview of what the new players of the band (Mike Humbert on drums and Uros Raskovski on lead guitar have to offer). Steelheart's new sound is modern and edgy while still retaining overtones of Miijenko Matijevic's roots. The live Steelheart DVD is also available online. Meanwhile, former drummer for Steelheart, John Fowler, was working on two new projects- the Voodoo Jets and Smoke before his death. He died on 3/21/08 after falling into a coma from suffering a brain aneurysm on 3/17/08. Chris Risola has a guitar studio and rejoined Steelheart for the Just a Taste tour and the touring circle for the album Good 2b Alive. Instrumental guitarist Bill Lonero joined SteelHeart for the Rocklahoma festival on July 13, 2008. He was replaced after Lonero left to pursue his band LoNero full-time. Uros Raskovski rejoined the band in early 2009. Uros worked with Miljenko on the new album Good 2B Alive. In 2010, Uros Raskovski left Steelheart once again and the band decided to continue on as a four piece.

Queen were an English rock band. Formed in London 1970 in by guitarist Brian May, vocalist Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor; bassist John Deacon completed the lineup the following year. The band were noted for their musical diversity, multi-layered arrangements, vocal harmonies, and incorporation of audience participation into their live performances. Their 1985 Live Aid performance was voted the best live rock performance of all time in an industry poll.

Queen enjoyed success in the UK in the early 1970s with the albums Queen and Queen II, but it was with the release of Sheer Heart Attack in 1974 and A Night at the Opera the following year that the band gained international success. They have released fifteen studio albums, five live albums, and numerous compilation albums. Since Mercury's death and Deacon's retirement, May and Taylor have performed infrequently together at special events and programmes as members of other ensembles. Between 2004 to 2009 the duo collaborated with Paul Rodgers, under the moniker Queen + Paul Rodgers.

In 1968, guitarist Brian May, a student at London's Imperial College, and bassist Tim Staffell decided to form a band. May placed an advertisement on the college notice board for a "Mitch Mitchell/Ginger Baker type" drummer; Roger Taylor, a young dental student, auditioned and got the job. The group called themselves Smile.

Smile signed to Mercury Records in 1969, and had their first session in a recording studio in Trident Studios that year. Tim Staffell was attending Ealing Art College with Farrokh Bulsara, later known as Freddie Mercury, and introduced him to the band. Bulsara soon became a keen fan. After Staffell left in 1970 to join the band Humpy Bong,[4] the remaining Smile members, encouraged by Bulsara, changed their name to "Queen" and continued working together. Bulsara, who joined the group as vocalist, explained, "I thought up the name Queen. It's just a name, but it's very regal obviously, and it sounds splendid, It's a strong name, very universal and immediate. It had a lot of visual potential and was open to all sorts of interpretations. I was certainly aware of gay connotations, but that was just one facet of it." The band had a number of bass players during this period who did not fit with the band's chemistry. It was not until February 1971 that they settled on John Deacon and began to rehearse for their first album.

In 1973, after a series of delays, Queen released their debut album Queen, an effort influenced by the heavy metal and progressive rock of the day. The album was received well by critics; Gordon Fletcher of Rolling Stone said "their debut album is superb", and Chicago's Daily Herald called it an "above average debut".However, it drew little mainstream attention and the lead single "Keep Yourself Alive", a Brian May composition, sold poorly. Greg Prato of Allmusic later called Queen "one of the most underrated hard rock debuts of all time."

The group's second LP Queen II was released in 1974. The album reached number five on the British album charts, and the Freddie Mercury-written lead single "Seven Seas of Rhye," reached number ten in the UK, giving the band their first hit. The album is their heaviest and darkest release, featuring long complex instrumental passages, fantasy-themed lyrics and musical virtuosity. The band toured as support to Mott the Hoople in the UK ad they began to gain notice for their energetic and engaging stage shows. However, like its predecessor, sales of Queen II in the US were low.

Because of medical complications, May was absent when the band started work on their third album, Sheer Heart Attack, released in 1974. The album reached number two in the United Kingdom, sold well throughout Europe, and went gold in the United States. It gave the band their first real taste of commercial success. The album experimented with a variety of musical genres, including British Music Hall ("Killer Queen"), heavy metal ("Flick of the Wrist", "Brighton Rock", "Tenement Funster", "Now I'm Here", and "Stone Cold Crazy" – a song which Metallica later covered, earning them a Grammy Award), ballads ("Lily Of The Valley" and "Dear Friends"), ragtime ("Bring Back That Leroy Brown") and Caribbean ("Misfire"). At this point Queen started to move away from the progressive tendencies of their first two releases into a more radio-friendly, song-oriented style. Sheer Heart Attack introduced new sound and melody patterns that would be refined on their next album A Night at the Opera.

The single "Killer Queen" reached number two on the British charts, and became their first U.S. hit, reaching number twelve in the Billboard American Top 40. It combines camp, vaudeville, British music hall with May’s guitar virtuosity. The album’s second single, "Now I’m Here", a more traditional hard rock composition, was a number eleven hit in Britain.

In 1975, the band left for a world tour with each member in Zandra Rhodes-created costumes and banks of lights and effects. They toured the US, headlining for the first time, and played in Canada for the first time in April. At the same time, the band's manager Jim Beach successfully negotiated the band out of their Trident contract. Of the options they considered, was an offer from Led Zeppelin’s manager, Peter Grant. Grant wanted them to sign with Led Zeppelin’s own production company, Swan Song Records. The band found the contract unacceptable and instead, contacted Elton John’s manager, John Reid, who accepted the position. In April 1975 the band toured Japan for the first time.

Later that year the band recorded and released A Night at the Opera. At the time, it was the most expensive album ever produced. Like its predecessor, the album features diverse musical styles and experimentation with stereo sound. In "The Prophet's Song", an eight-minute epic, the middle section is a canon, with simple phrases layered to create a full-choral sound. The album was very successful in Britain, and went triple platinum in the United States. In 2003, it was ranked number 230 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

The album also featured the hit single "Bohemian Rhapsody", which was number one in the United Kingdom for nine weeks, and is Britain’s third-best-selling single of all time; it also reached number nine in the United States (a 1992 re-release reached number two). Bohemian Rhapsody has been voted, several times, the greatest song of all time. The band decided to make a video to go with the single; the result is generally considered to have been one of the first "true" music videos ever produced. Although other bands (including The Beatles) had made short promotional films or videos of songs prior to this, generally those were made for specific showings or programs (such as the Beatles' videos for "Hey Jude" and "Revolution", which were specifically made to be aired on the Smothers Brothers' television show). "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the first musical video offered free of charge, to any program, network or station which would air it. The second single from the album, "You're My Best Friend", peaked at sixteen in the United States and went on to become a worldwide Top Ten hit.

By 1976, Queen were back in the studio, where they recorded A Day at the Races, what may be mistaken simply as a companion album to A Night at the Opera. It again borrowed the name of a Marx Brothers' movie, and its cover was similar to that of A Night at the Opera, a variation on the same Queen Crest. Musically, the album was by both fans’ and critics’ standards a strong effort, and reached number one on the British charts. The major hit on the album was "Somebody to Love", a gospel-inspired song in which Mercury, May, and Taylor multi-tracked their voices to make a 100-voice gospel choir. The song went to number two in the United Kingdom and number thirteen on the U.S. singles chart. The album also featured one of the band's heaviest songs, Brian May’s "Tie Your Mother Down", which became a staple of their live shows.

Also in 1976, Queen played one of their most famous gigs, a 1976 free concert in Hyde Park, London. It set an attendance record, with 150,000 people confirmed in the audience. News of the World was released a year later. It contained many songs tailor-made for live performance, including "We Will Rock You" and the rock ballad "We Are the Champions", both of which reached number four in the United States and became enduring international sports anthems.[13] Roger Taylor released his first solo effort in 1977 in the form of a single: the A-side was a cover of a song by The Parliaments "I Wanna Testify", and the B-side was a song by Taylor called "Turn On The TV".

In 1978 the band released Jazz, including the hit singles "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Bicycle Race" which were also released as a double-A-side single. The word "jazz" was not used in a strict sense, and the album was noted by critics for its collection of different styles, jazz not being one of them.Rolling Stone Magazine criticised it for being "dull", saying "Queen hasn’t the imagination to play jazz – Queen hasn't the imagination, for that matter, to play rock & roll." Important tracks of the album include "Dead on Time", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Let Me Entertain You", and "Mustapha", in which Arabesque music is combined with heavy rock guitar.

The band’s first live album, Live Killers, was released in 1979; it went platinum twice in the United States. They also released the very successful single "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", a rockabilly song done in the style of Elvis Presley. The song made the top 10 in many countries, and was the band’s first number one single in the United States.

Queen began the 1980s with The Game. It featured the singles "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Another One Bites the Dust", both of which reached number one in the United States. The album stayed number one for four weeks in the United States, and sold over four million copies It was also the only album to ever top the Billboard rock, dance, and R&B charts simultaneously. The album also marked the first appearance of a synthesiser on a Queen album. Heretofore, their albums featured a distinctive "No Synthesisers were used on this Album" sleevenote. The note is widely assumed to reflect an anti-synth, pro-"hard"-rock stance by the band, but was later revealed by producer Roy Thomas Baker to be an attempt to clarify that those albums' multi-layered solos were created with guitars, not synths, as record company executives kept assuming at the time.
1980 also saw the release of the soundtrack Queen had recorded for Flash Gordon.

In 1981, Queen became the first major rock band to play in Latin American stadiums. Queen played to a total audience of 479,000 people on their South American tour, including five shows in Argentina and two in Brazil where they played to an audience of more than 130,000 people in the first night and more than 120,000 people the following night at São Paulo (Morumbi Stadium). In October of the same year, Queen performed for more than 150,000 fans on October 9 at Monterrey (Estadio Universitario) and 17 and 18 at Puebla (Estadio Zaragoza), Mexico.

Also in 1981, Queen worked with David Bowie on the single "Under Pressure". The first-time collaboration with another artist was spontaneous, as Bowie happened to drop by the studio while Queen were recording.[27] The band were immediately pleased with the results, but Bowie did not play the song live for several years.[citation needed] Upon its release, the song was extremely successful, reaching number one in Britain. The bass line was later used for Vanilla Ice's 1990 hit "Ice Ice Baby", prompting the threat of a lawsuit over the use of the sample. The lawsuit did not make it to court and was settled for an undisclosed amount.

Later that year, Queen released their first compilation album, entitled Greatest Hits, which showcased the group's highlights from 1974-1981. It was highly successful, and as of 2007, it is the United Kingdom's best selling album. Taylor became the first member of the band to release his own solo album in 1981, entitled Fun In Space.

In 1982 the band released the funk album Hot Space. The band stopped touring North America after their Hot Space Tour, as their success there had waned, although they would perform on American television for the only time during the eighth season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Queen left Elektra Records, their label in the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and signed onto EMI/Capitol Records.

After working steadily for over ten years, Queen decided that they would not perform any live shows in 1983. During this time, they recorded a new album, and several members of the band explored side projects and solo work. May released a mini-album entitled Star Fleet Project, on which he collaborated with Eddie Van Halen. A computer musician composer in Canada, Kevin Chamberlain, helped with vocals and background music for Mercury's solo project[citation needed], which was later cancelled due to creative differences.

In 1984, Queen released the album The Works, which included the successful singles "Radio Ga Ga" and "I Want to Break Free". Despite these hit singles, the album failed to do well in the United States. "Radio Ga Ga" was the band's last original American Top Forty hit until 1989's "I Want It All".

Queen embarked that year on a set of dates during their The Works Tour in Bophuthatswana, South Africa at the arena at Sun City.Upon returning to England, they were the subject of outrage, having played there during the height of apartheid and in violation of worldwide divestment efforts. The band responded to the critics by stating that they were playing music for fans in that country, and they also stressed that the concerts were played before integrated audiences.

On 12 January 1985, the band headlined two nights of the first Rock in Rio festival at Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). They were the main act on the January 11 and 18 lineups. On each night, they played in front of over 180,000 people. A selection of highlights of both performances was released on VHS on May with the title Queen Live in Rio.

At Live Aid, held at Wembley on 13 July 1985, Queen performed some of their greatest hits in what has been considered their best performance to date. The band, now revitalised by the response to Live Aid and the ensuing increase in record sales, ended 1985 by releasing the single "One Vision". The song was used in the film Iron Eagle. Also, a limited-edition boxed set containing all Queen albums to date was released under the title of "The Complete Works". The package included previously unreleased material, most notably Queen's non-album single of Christmas 1984, titled Thank God it's Christmas.

In early 1986, Queen recorded the album A Kind of Magic, containing several songs written for the Russell Mulcahy film Highlander. The album was very successful, producing a string of hits including the title track "A Kind of Magic", which contains the key lyrics 'There can be only one', a reference to the movie's plot; "Friends Will Be Friends", "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "Princes of the Universe".

Later that year, Queen went on a sold-out tour (the band's largest) in support of A Kind of Magic. The Magic Tour's highlight was at Wembley Stadium in London and resulted in the live double album, Queen Live At Wembley Stadium, released on CD and as a live concert film. They could not book Wembley for a third night because it was already booked, but they did play at Knebworth Park. The show sold out within two hours and over 120,000 fans packed the park for what proved to be Queen's final live performance with Mercury. More than 1 million people saw Queen on the tour – 400,000 in the United Kingdom alone, a record at the time.

After working on various solo projects during 1988 (including Mercury's collaboration with Montserrat Caballé, Barcelona) the band released The Miracle in 1989. The album continued the direction of A Kind of Magic, using a pop-rock sound mixed with a few heavy numbers. It spawned the European hits "I Want It All", "Breakthru", "The Invisible Man", "Scandal", and "The Miracle".

The Miracle also began a change in direction of Queen's songwriting philosophy. Since the band's beginning, nearly all songs had been written by and credited to a single member, with other members adding minimally. With The Miracle, however, the band's songwriting became more collaborative, and they vowed to credit the final product only to Queen as a group.

After fans noticed Mercury's gaunt appearance during 1988, rumours began to spread that Mercury was suffering from AIDS. For reasons that are still not confirmed, Mercury flatly denied them at the time, insisting he was merely "exhausted" and too busy to provide interviews. However, the band decided to continue making albums free of internal conflict and differences, starting with The Miracle and continuing with Innuendo, which was recorded during 1990 but not released until the beginning of 1991 as Mercury's health was a major factor in the delay[citation needed].

Despite his deteriorating health, Mercury continued to contribute. The band released their second greatest hits compilation, Greatest Hits II, in October 1991.

On 23 November 1991, in a prepared statement made on his deathbed, Mercury confirmed that he had AIDS. Within twelve hours of that statement, he died of bronchial pneumonia, which was brought on by AIDS. His funeral service was private, held in accordance with the Zoroastrian religious faith of his family.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" was re-released as a single shortly after Mercury's death, with "These Are the Days of Our Lives" as the double A-side. The single went to number 1 for the second time in the UK. Initial proceeds from the single – approximately £1,000,000 – were donated to the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Queen's popularity increased once again in the United States after "Bohemian Rhapsody" was featured in the comedy film Wayne's World, helping the song reach number two for five weeks in the United States charts in 1992. The song was made into a Wayne's World music video, with which the band and management were delighted.

On 20 April 1992, the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert was held at London's Wembley Stadium. Performers included Def Leppard, Lisa Stansfield, Elton John, David Bowie, Robert Plant, Tony Iommi, Annie Lennox, Guns N' Roses, Extreme, Roger Daltrey, George Michael, Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, Zucchero, Metallica, Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor and Spinal Tap, along with the three remaining members of Queen, performed many of Queen's major hits. It was a successful concert that was televised to over 1 billion viewers worldwide. The concert is listed in The Guinness Book of Records as "The largest rock star benefit concert. It raised over £20,000,000 for AIDS charities.

The band also terminated their Capitol Records contract and signed a deal with Hollywood Records as their new U.S label.

Queen never actually disbanded, although their last album of original material, titled Made in Heaven, was released in 1995, four years after Mercury's death. It was constructed from Mercury's final recording sessions in 1991, plus material left over from their previous studio albums. In addition, re-worked material from Mercury's solo album Mr. Bad Guy and a track originally featured on the first album of Taylor's side-project The Cross were included. May and Taylor have often been involved in projects related to raising money for AIDS research. John Deacon's last involvement with the band was in 1997, when the band recorded the track "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)". It was the last song recorded by Queen, and it was released as a bonus track on the Queen Rocks compilation album later that year. Due to demand from Queen fans, the song was later released as a single reaching #13 in the UK chart.

Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses is an American rock band that were formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band, led by frontman and co-founder Axl Rose, has gone through numerous line-up changes and controversies since their formation. The band has released six studio albums, three EPs and one live album during their career.

The band has sold an estimated 150 million albums worldwide,including over 43 million in the United States. The band's 1987 major label debut album Appetite for Destruction has sold in excess of 30 million copies and reached number one on the United States Billboard 200. In addition, the album charted three Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Sweet Child O' Mine" which reached number one. The 1991 albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted on the two highest spots on the Billboard 200 and have sold a combined 14 million copies in the United States alone. After over a decade of work, the band released their follow-up album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008.

Their mid-to-late eighties and early nineties years have been described by individuals in the music industry as the period in which "they brought forth a hedonistic rebelliousness and revived the punk attitude-driven hard rock scene, reminiscent of the early Rolling Stones.

The band's first album, Appetite for Destruction was released on July 21, 1987. In the US, "Welcome to the Jungle" was issued as its first single with an accompanying music video. Initially, the album and single lingered for almost a year without performing well, but when Geffen Records founder David Geffen was asked to lend support to the band, he obliged by personally convincing MTV executives to play "Welcome to the Jungle" during their after hours rotation. Even though the video was initially only played one time at 4 a.m. on a Sunday, rock and punk fans took notice and soon began requesting the video and song en masse.

Overseas, countries were often treated to material that never saw release to the US market, and went unexposed to US fans. The original UK "Welcome to the Jungle" single was backed with a Marquee Club performance of AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" and a 12-inch (300 mm) single included live renditions of "It's So Easy" and the Bob Dylan classic "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (which would later be covered by the band in the studio on Use Your Illusion II). In Japan, an entire EP entitled Live from the Jungle was issued, containing the album version of "Sweet Child o' Mine" along with a selection of numerous Marquee Club recordings.

The album underwent an artwork change after the original Robert Williams cover design (a surrealist scene in which a dagger-toothed monster vengefully attacks a robot rapist) spawned complaints from religious groups and caused some record stores to brown bag, obscure, or refuse to sell the album.The revised cover was a design by Bill White, a tattoo artist, who originally designed it for Axl's tattoo on his right forearm. It was a picture of a cross with each of the five band members featured on it. Axl's head was in the middle with Izzy Stradlin' above and Slash below, Steven Adler and Duff McKagan were on either side of Axl. Rose later insisted that the Gold and Platinum plaques issued by the RIAA be set using the original cover. The artwork from the original cover can be found in the booklet of the CD release.

"Sweet Child O' Mine" was the album's second US single co-written by Axl Rose as a poem for his girlfriend and future wife, Erin Everly. Due to the growing grassroots success of the band and the cross-gender appeal of the tune, the song and its accompanying music video received heavy airplay on both radio and MTV, and became a smash hit during the summer of 1988. Slash stated on VH1's 100 Greatest songs of the 80's "it was actually my least favorite song we ever wrote..I hate it, but it turns out to be our greatest song ever". "Welcome to the Jungle" was then re-issued as a single, with new pressings of records and tapes and new artwork. The UK re-release was backed with an acoustic version of "You're Crazy", recorded much earlier than the one featured on the G N' R Lies EP.

By the time "Paradise City" and its video reached the airwaves, the band's touring success and fame had catapulted the album to #1 on the Billboard charts. "Welcome to the Jungle", "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "Paradise City" were all top ten singles in the U.S. To date, Appetite for Destruction has sold over 28 million copies.

Guns N' Roses began opening shows for major acts, but as their fame began to take hold, a world tour in support of Appetite for Destruction was scheduled. The band traveled across the United States, and in spring 1988 were invited to the notorious Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England, where they shared the bill with groups like KISS and Iron Maiden. At the start of the Guns N' Roses set, the capacity crowd of over 100,000 began jumping and surging forward. Despite Rose's requests that the crowd move away from the stage, two fans were trampled to death. The media largely blamed the band for the tragedy, and reported that the band had continued playing even when there were dangerous crowd conditions. In fact, the final report on the Donington incident filed by the head of security at the venue noted that the band had not been aware of the extent of fan injuries, had immediately halted their set when requested to do so, and had attempted to calm the crowd. Nonetheless, events such as these during the Appetite for Destruction tour earned the group the title of "the world's most dangerous band". In addition, the behavior of the band members also garnered negative attention from the media. Duff, Slash, Izzy and Adler were often seen intoxicated both on and off stage.

The band's next release was G N' R Lies in 1988, which reached #2 in the Billboard music charts. The album included the four Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide recordings on one side and four acoustic songs on the other. The song "One in a Million", which included the words "niggers" and "faggots" among other such obscenities, led to controversy in which critics accused the band, and specifically Axl Rose, of racism and homophobia.Rose responded (in a 1990 interview with MTV) by saying the claims were unfounded, particularly considering Slash himself is half black. He went on to explain that the words were those of a protagonist and not a personal statement, and that the lyrics reflected racial and prejudicial problems within society rather than promoting them. Rose also cited that he idolized gay/bisexual singers like Freddie Mercury and Elton John. The band had played gigs alongside the all-black metal band Body Count, and lead singer Ice T wrote in his book, The Ice Opinion, that Axl had been "a victim of the press the same way I am".

Even after the release of GN'R Lies, Appetite for Destruction continued to be popular for the rest of 1988 and 1989, which resulted in them winning both Favorite Heavy Metal Artist and Favorite Heavy Metal Album (Appetite for Destruction) at the nationally televised 1990 American Music Awards, where Slash and McKagan appeared visibly intoxicated and used profanities on the air. The members finally took steps to deal with their addictions after Rose threatened to end the band if they continued with their heavy drug abuse. He even spoke publicly about the situation, specifically the heroin addictions, while opening for The Rolling Stones at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1989 by stating that if certain members of the band don't stop "dancing with Mr. Brownstone", Guns N' Roses was finished -- mainly referring to Slash and Adler.

In 1990, Guns N' Roses returned to the studio to begin recording their most ambitious undertaking yet. During the recording session of "Civil War", drummer Steven Adler was unable to perform well due to his struggles with cocaine and heroin addiction—his difficulties in the studio caused the band to do nearly 30 takes.As a result, Adler was fired in July 1990, and was replaced by former Cult drummer Matt Sorum, who Axl credited for saving the band. A few months prior, keyboardist Dizzy Reed became the sixth member of the group when he joined as a full time member. The band fired their manager, Alan Niven, in May 1991, replacing him with Doug Goldstein. According to a 1991 cover story by Rolling Stone magazine, Rose forced the dismissal of Niven (against the wishes of some of his bandmates) by refusing to complete the albums until he was replaced.

With enough music for two albums, the band released Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II on September 17, 1991. The tactic paid off when the albums debuted at #2 and #1 respectively in the Billboard charts, setting a record as they became the first and only group to date to achieve this feat. The albums spent 108 weeks in the chart.

Guns N' Roses accompanied the Use Your Illusion albums with many videos, including "Don't Cry", "November Rain" and "Estranged"—some of the most expensive music videos ever made. The hit ballad "November Rain" became the most requested video on MTV, eventually winning the 1992 MTV Video Music Award for best cinematography. During the awards show, the band performed the song with Elton John accompanying on piano.

Both prior to and after the release of the albums, Guns N' Roses embarked on the 28-month-long Use Your Illusion World Tour. It became famous for both its financial success and the many controversial incidents that occurred at the shows, and is still currently the longest tour in rock history.

The Use Your Illusion World Tour included a Slash guitar solo incorporating The Godfather theme, a piano-driven Axl Rose cover of "It's Alright" by Black Sabbath and an extended jam on the classic rock-inspired "Move to the City" where Rose showcased the ensemble of musicians assembled for the tour.

Many of the successful performances during the tour were equally matched, and often overshadowed in the press, by riots, late starts and outspoken rants by Rose. While the band's previous drug and alcohol issues were seemingly under control, Axl was often agitated by lax security, sound problems and unwanted filming or recording of the performances. He also used the time in-between songs to fire off political statements or retorts against music critics or celebrity rivals.

On July 2, 1991, at the Riverport Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis during a performance of "Rocket Queen", Rose jumped into the audience and tackled a fan who was filming the show with a camera. He had a heated confrontation with the fan before physically assaulting him. After being pulled out of the audience by members of the crew, Rose said: "Well, thanks to the lame-ass security, I'm going home!", slammed his microphone on the ground and left the stage. The sound the microphone made caused some fans to think he shot someone, so Slash quickly told the audience, "He just slammed his mic on the floor. We're outta here." The angry crowd began to riot and dozens of people were injured. The footage was captured by Robert John, who was documenting the entire tour for the band. Rose was charged with having incited the riot, but police were unable to arrest him until almost a year later, as the band went overseas to continue the tour. Charges were filed against Rose but a judge ruled that he did not directly incite the riot. In his defense, Rose stated that the Guns N' Roses security team had made four separate requests to the venue's security staff to remove the camera, all of which were ignored, that other members of the band had reported being hit by bottles from the audience and that the venue's security had been lax, allowing weapons into the arena and refusing to enforce a drinking limit.Consequently, Use Your Illusion's artwork featured a hidden message amidst the Thank You section of the album insert: "Fuck You, St. Louis!"

After a repeat of the St. Louis incident nearly unfolded during a concert in Germany,[19] rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin abruptly quit the band, citing a combination of Rose's personal behaviour (he would consistently delay the start of shows by hours at a time) and his mismanagement of the band and difficulties being around Slash, Sorum, and McKagan due to his new-found sobriety and their continuing alcohol and substance addictions. Axl Rose originally wanted Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro to replace Stradlin, but Stradlin was eventually replaced by Los Angeles-based guitarist Gilby Clarke whom Slash credited for saving the band. During many shows throughout the tour, Rose introduced Clarke and had him play "Wild Horses", a Rolling Stones cover with Slash. Clarke also plays the opening guitar part of "Don't Cry" as well as part of the infamous "Nightrain" riff again with Slash. In late 1991, Rose added a touring ensemble to the band which included a horns section and several background vocalists despite the rest of the band's refusal.

In 1992, the band appeared at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, performing a two-song set. Slash later performed "Tie Your Mother Down" with the remaining members of Queen, while Axl Rose performed "We Will Rock You" and duetted with Elton John on "Bohemian Rhapsody". Their personal set included "Paradise City" and "Knocking on Heaven's Door". When they returned to the U.S. for the second leg of the Use Your Illusion tour, Queen guitarist Brian May opened the shows with a band that included Cozy Powell on drums. Axl had originally wanted the grunge band Nirvana to open their Use Your Illusion tour but frontman Kurt Cobain refused. He also made some negative comments about Guns N' Roses infuriating Rose and started of one of his many feuds other than the ones with his bandmates.

Later in the year they went on the mini-GNR-Metallica Stadium Tour with American Metal band Metallica. During a show in August 1992 at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, Metallica frontman James Hetfield suffered severe burns after stepping too close to a pyrotechnics blast. Metallica was forced to cancel the second hour of the show, but promised to return to the city for another show. After a long delay, during which the audience became increasingly restless, Guns N' Roses took the stage. However, the shortened time between sets did not allow for adequate tuning of stage monitors, resulting in musicians not being able to hear themselves. In addition, Rose claimed that his throat hurt, causing the band to leave the stage early. The cancellation led to another riot by audience members, reminiscent of the rioting that had occurred in St. Louis one year earlier. Rioters overturned cars, smashed windows, looted local stores and set fires. Local authorities were barely able to bring the mob under control. This can be seen on video in A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica. On MTV's Rockumentary about Metallica, the band spoke about this tour and how they learned from Guns N' Roses what not to do.

The historic tour ended in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on July 17, 1993. The tour set attendance records and lasted for 28 months, in which 192 shows were played. The show in Buenos Aires marked the last time original members Slash and McKagan as well as newcomers Clarke and Sorum would play a live show with Rose.

On November 23, 1993, Guns N' Roses released a collection of punk and glam rock covers entitled "The Spaghetti Incident?". Despite protests from Rose's bandmates, an unadvertised cover of the Charles Manson song "Look at Your Game Girl" was included on the album at his request. Years later, Rose said he would remove the song from new pressings of the album, claiming that critics and the media had misinterpreted his interest in Manson. Axl can be seen wearing a black Manson shirt in the video for "Estranged" from Use Your Illusion II. He also can be seen wearing a red Manson shirt in footage from thier show in Milton Keynes, England in 1993. This version of the shirt had addional text on the back, "Charlie Don't Surf'. "Look at Your Game Girl" is still on the album. The Spaghetti Incident? did not match the success of the Illusion albums and tension increased within the band.

Interviews with Guns N' Roses band members suggest that between 1994 and 1996, the band sporadically began to write and record new material, most of which, according to Slash, had been written by Axl. At the time, the band had intended to release a single album with 10 or 12 songs.

Regarding the dysfunction of the band's recording at that time, Axl is quoted as saying "We still needed the collaboration of the band as a whole to write the best songs. Since none of that happened, that’s the reason why that material got scrapped."

Slash and Duff McKagan later left the group, and as such all of the original members (aside from Axl Rose) had departed from the band. 1994 was the last year Axl held a press conference or performed until the 2002 MTV awards with his new cast. Axl's only performance in 1994 was a duet with Bruce Springsteen on a cover of the Beatles song "Come Together". An actual break-up of Guns N' Roses never occurred, as new players were brought in as the old ones left. McKagan was the last of Rose's original bandmates to leave; in 1997 he was replaced by Tommy Stinson (formerly of The Replacements.) By the end of 1998, a new version of Guns N Roses had emerged: many musicians have come and gone from the new band, but the core group has included Rose, Stinson, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, multi-instrumentalist Chris Pitman, and guitarist Robin Finck.

In 1999, the band released one new song, "Oh My God", which was included on the soundtrack of the film End of Days. The track featured additional guitar work by Dave Navarro and Gary Sunshine, Rose's personal guitar teacher. The song's release was intended to be a prelude to their new album, now officially entitled Chinese Democracy. Geffen also released Live Era: '87-'93, a collection of live performances from various concerts during the Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion tours. Also in 1999, during an interview with Kurt Loder for MTV, Axl said that he had re-recorded Appetite for Destruction with the then-new band, apart from two songs which he had replaced with "Patience" and "You Could Be Mine".

Chinese Democracy had reportedly been in the works since 1994, with Rose the only original member still in the band. According to a report published in 2005 by The New York Times, Rose had allegedly burned through $13 million in the studio by that point.

In 1999, guitarist Robin Finck departed the band in order to rejoin his former band, Nine Inch Nails, on tour. In 2000, avant-garde guitarist Buckethead joined Guns N' Roses as a replacement for Finck. Drummer Josh Freese was replaced with Bryan Mantia (formerly of Primus). Robin Finck returned to Guns N' Roses in late 2000, to complement Buckethead on lead guitar.

Mr. Big

Mr. Big is a hard rock super-group that formed in 1988. The band is a quartet composed of Eric Martin (vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass), and Pat Torpey (drums); Mr. Big also included Richie Kotzen, a reputable blues-based guitarist who replaced Paul in 1999 when Paul decided to focus on a solo career. The band is noted especially for their "shred guitar" musicianship, intense live performances, and well-crafted songs.

Identified early on as a "musicians' band", Mr. Big was able to produce numerous hit songs that ranged across a wide array of rock genres, be it ballad, heavy metal, or blues rock. Prior to the formation of the group, each of the members already had a reputation of being virtuosos as well as established song-writers/ composers. Their songs were often marked with strong vocals and vocal harmonies, and a technical proficiency in all instruments. Their hits include "To Be With You" (Billboard Hot 100 number one single in 15 countries for weeks, in 1991), "Wild World", "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind", "Just Take My Heart", other ballads, and a host of heavy metal songs that were played mostly during their live performances, such as "Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy", "Addicted to that Rush", "Colorado Bulldog", and "Take Cover", among the rest.

Mr. Big's following and reputation remained strong for over two decades, despite the band being challenged by personal internal conflicts and the changing trends in mainstream music. Over the years, through the different heights of the band's career, the fan-base of the group has remained steadfast - even after the demise of the band in 2002. Fans have always asked for the band's reunion.

The newly formed band hired Herbie Herbert to be their manager (he was the former manager of Journey and Santana). By 1989, the newly formed quartet had already inked a recording contract with Atlantic Records, resulting in the release of a self-titled debut the same year. Despite causing a buzz amongst musicians, the album failed to cross over to a mainstream rock audience stateside; however, Mr. Big was an immediate smash success overseas in Japan. In June 1990, the group went on tour in America as the opening act for the Canadian band “Rush”.

It was Mr. Big's second album in 1991, “Lean Into It”, that provided major breakthrough for the band. The album featured two ballads that established them as a commercial success: "To Be with You” (number one song in 15 countries) and "Just Take My Heart", as well as rock songs that remained as staples of their live set for years to come, such as "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind". The album propelled Mr. Big to huge international record sales in the multi-millions. The release of “Lean Into It” was followed by a British tour in April and May of the same year, supported by bands “The Throbs” and “Heartland”.

Another British tour ensured before the quartet opted to release the 'Mr. Big Live' album in 1992 and set to work on a third album to be released in 1993. Live headliners across the U.K. in December saw “Forgodsake” as support. However, the band had broken away from this run to put in support for Aerosmith’s three-night, sold out stand at London's Wembley Arena.

In 1993, another ballad from Mr. Big's new album “Bump Ahead” rose to the top 10 of the charts - a cover of Cat Steven’s “Wild World”. The band also contributed the soundtrack to the Sega Mega CD release of The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin.

And in 1995, their next album,Hey Man, was released. The song "Take Cover" from the album "Hey Man", was included on the soundtrack to the cartoon series Mega Man, which is based on the best selling video game franchise of the same name by Capcom, and was played during the end credits of the episodes "Bad Day At Peril Park" and "Mega X".

In February 2009, as a result of fan-demand and also after several coincidences over the past couple of years that have gradually brought the group back together again, Eric, Pat, Paul, and Billy finally announced their decision to reunite. This announcement was marked with celebration and excitement amongst fans all over the world, especially in Japan. The band members themselves are very happy to be together again as friends, and to perform once more for fans all over the world. Their first tour is in Japan in June 2009.

It was bass player Billy Sheehan who scouted and gathered the people who would, together with himself, become the enduring icons of Mr. Big. Billy Sheehan left David Lee Roth's solo band in 1988, due to differences in musical direction.Almost immediately after his exit, Sheehan began piecing together a new outfit, with the help of Mike Varney from Shrapnel Records, a label specialized in the shredding genre. However, what Sheehan did not know was that he was about to form one of the most revered "supergroups" to come out of America.

The Buffalo, New York-born bassist had already honed his skills during a decade spent touring with his band, Talas, but with the recruitment of Eric Martin in 1988, he knew the foundation for this ultimate musical venture was well in place. Martin (who was born in Long Island, New York, but grew up all over the world as one of the sons of an Army officer) had already ventured into the light, both with melodic rock-oriented Eric Martin Band, and as a more soul-leaning solo artist.

The group was made complete with talents of guitarist Gilbert and drummer Torpey. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Gilbert was already a well-respected guitarist who had released four highly-touted albums with his Los Angeles-based band, Racer X. Torpey came to California after playing his dues behind the kit in the Arizona rock community. He soon became a much sought-after road horse, touring with a number of high-profile artists, most notably Robert Plant.

Although the band never replicated its earlier success in the US market, their popularity continued to soar in Japan; they also gained a stabler following in newer Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand and South Korea. The change in attitudes towards Hard Rock and the media treatment of so-called '80s Hair bands' meant that sales were poor in America and Europe. The music industry started to focus more on other music genres such as grunge rock and rap.

In Japan and in the rest of Asia, on the other hand, they continued to sell out tours, resulting in a number of live releases for the Japanese market throughout their career (from Raw Like Sushi I,II,II in the 1990s to Mr. Big In Japan in 2002).

The group's album, 'Live At Budokan', was another live release intended for the Japanese market only. By the time 'Live At Budokan' appeared the group had been put on ice as the individual band members became more engrossed in other projects. After several years of continuous recording and touring, the band took a much needed break

Paul Gilbert left the band in 1997 to pursue a solo career, and partly because of the internal conflicts within the band. He eventually reformed Racer X. Richie Kotzen, another Shrapnel artist and former guitarist for Poison, was brought in to take on guitar duties, also contributing occasional vocals. Two studio albums were released by this lineup: Get Over It in 2000 and Actual Size in 2001. "Get Over It" was released on September 1999 in Japan, and yielded "Superfantastic," a number one hit that went multi-platinum in Japan. It proved to be Atlantic's biggest selling release in that territory. MR. Big put in a 20-date tour of Japan followed by a rousing New Year's Eve 1999 show with Aerosmith at the Osaka Dome in Tokyo. "Get Over It" was released in the U.S. on March 21, 2000, followed by a short club stint at "Roxy", California.

Forward to the summer of 2001, Eric and the rest of the Mr. Big guys released their next effort "Actual Size" in Japan and the rest of Asia. The CD sat on the charts in the number three spot and "Shine" the first single off the album was number one. The song was also used as the ending theme for the animation series, Hellsing.

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band from Leyton, East London, England, formed during 1975. The band are directed by founder, bassist and songwriter Steve Harris. Since their inception, the group has released a collective total of thirty-five albums. Respectively: fourteen studio albums, nine live albums, four EPs and eight compilations.

As pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal music, Iron Maiden achieved success during the early 1980s and after several lineup changes, went on to release a series of platinum and gold albums. These include the US platinum-selling landmark The Number of the Beast during 1982 and Piece of Mind in 1983. Their most recent studio effort, A Matter of Life and Death, was released in 2006 and peaked at number nine on the Billboard 200. The album was certified gold in the UK.

As one of the most successful heavy metal bands to date, Iron Maiden have sold more than 70 million records worldwide, without significant mainstream or radio support. The band won the Ivor Novello Awards for international achievement in 2002, and were also inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk in Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California during their tour in the United States in 2005. Their influences include: Thin Lizzy, UFO, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Wishbone Ash.

The Iron Maiden team was formed Christmas Day 1975, by bassist Steve Harris, shortly after he left his previous group, Smiler. Harris attributes the band name to a movie adaptation of The Man in the Iron Mask from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, which he saw around that time, and so the group was named after the iron maiden torture device.

Steve Harris and guitarist Dave Murray remain the longest-surviving members of Iron Maiden. Original vocalist Paul Day was fired as he lacked "energy or charisma onstage". He was replaced by Dennis Wilcock, a Kiss fan who utilised fire, make-up and fake blood during live performances. Wilcock's friend, Dave Murray, was invited to join, to the frustration of guitarists Dave Sullivan and Terry Rance.This fuelled Harris to temporarily disunite the band in 1976, though the group reformed soon after with Murray as the sole guitarist.

Iron Maiden recruited another guitarist in 1977, Bob Sawyer, who caused a rift between Murray and Wilcock, prompting Harris to fire both Murray and Sawyer.A poor gig at the Bridgehouse in November 1977, with a makeshift line-up including Tony Moore on keyboards, Terry Wapram on guitar, and drummer Barry Purkis resulted in Harris firing the entire band. Dave Murray was reinstated and Doug Sampson was hired as drummer.

A chance meeting at the Red Lion pub in Leytonstone evolved into a successful audition for vocalist Paul Di'Anno. Steve Harris has stated, "There's sort of a quality in Paul's voice, a raspiness in his voice, or whatever you want to call it, that just gave it this great edge."

Iron Maiden had been playing for three years, but had never recorded any of their music. On New Year's Eve 1978, the band recorded a demo, The Soundhouse Tapes. Featuring only three songs, the band sold all five thousand copies within weeks.[12] One track found on the demo, "Prowler", went to number one on Neal Kay's Heavy Metal Soundhouse charts in Sounds magazine. Their first appearance on an album was on the compilation Metal for Muthas (released on 15 February 1980) with two early versions of "Sanctuary" and "Wrathchild".

From late 1977 to 1978, Murray was the sole guitarist in the band until Paul Cairns joined in 1979. Shortly before going into the studio, Cairns left the band. Several other guitarists were hired temporarily until the band finally chose Dennis Stratton. Initially, the band wanted to hire Dave Murray's childhood friend Adrian Smith, but Smith was busy with his own band, Urchin. Drummer Doug Sampson was also replaced by Clive Burr (who was brought into the band by Stratton). In December 1979, the band landed a major record deal with EMI.

Iron Maiden's eponymous 1980 release, Iron Maiden, made number 4 in the UK Albums Chart in its first week of release,and the group became one of the leading proponents of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. In addition to the title track, the album includes other early favourites such as "Running Free", "Transylvania", "Phantom of the Opera", and "Sanctuary" — which was not on the original UK release but made the U.S. release and subsequent re-releases. The band played a headline tour of the UK then went on to open for Kiss on their 1980 Unmasked Tour's European leg. Iron Maiden also supported Judas Priest on select dates. After the Kiss tour, Dennis Stratton was dismissed from the band as a result of creative and personal differences. Stratton was replaced by Adrian Smith in October 1980.

In 1981, Maiden released their second album, titled Killers. This new album contained many tracks that had been written prior to the release of the debut album, but were considered surplus. With songs already created well in advance during tour, only two new tracks were written for the album: "Prodigal Son" and "Murders in the Rue Morgue" (the title was taken from the short story by Edgar Allan Poe).

By 1981, Paul Di'Anno was demonstrating increasingly self-destructive behaviour, particularly through alledged cocaine usage,[citation needed] although Di'Anno himself denies the charge. His performances began to suffer, just as the band was beginning to achieve major success in America. At the end of 1981 the band dismissed Di'Anno and sought a new vocalist.

Bruce Dickinson, previously of Samson, auditioned for Iron Maiden in September 1981 and joined the band soon afterwards. He then went out on the road with the band on a small headlining tour. In anticipation of the band's forthcoming album, the band played "Children of the Damned", "Run to the Hills", "22 Acacia Avenue" and "The Prisoner" at select venues, introducing fans to the sound that the band was progressing towards.

Dickinson's recorded debut with Iron Maiden was 1982's The Number of the Beast, an album that claimed the band their first ever UK Albums Chart #1 record and additionally became a Top Ten hit in many other countries. For the second time the band went on a world tour, visiting the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, UK and Germany. The tour's U.S. leg proved controversial when an American conservative political lobbying group claimed Iron Maiden was Satanic because of the new album's title track.The band members' attempts to stop the criticism failed. A group of Christian activists destroyed Iron Maiden records (along with those of Ozzy Osbourne) as a protest against the band.

Dickinson at the time was still having legal difficulties with Samson's management, and was not permitted to add his name to any of the songwriting credits. However, he was still able to lend "creative influence" to many of the songs. In a Guitar Legends interview he claims he contributed to the overall themes of "Children of the Damned", "The Prisoner" and "Run to the Hills".

In December 1982, drummer Clive Burr ended his association with the band due to personal and tour schedule problems. He was replaced by Nicko McBrain, previously of French band Trust. Soon afterwards, during 1983, the band released Piece of Mind, Soon after the success of Piece of Mind, the band released Powerslave on 9 September 1984. The album featured fan favourites "2 Minutes to Midnight", "Aces High", and "Rime of The Ancient Mariner", the latter based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem of the same name and running over 13 minutes in length. "Back in the Village" followed up on an earlier hit "The Prisoner", both based on the television show starring Patrick McGoohan.

The tour following the album, dubbed the World Slavery Tour, was the band's largest to date and consisted of 193 shows over 13 months. This was one of the largest tours in music history. Many shows were played back-to-back in the same city, such as in Long Beach, California, where most of the recordings were made for their subsequent live release Live After Death. This tour was physically gruelling for the band and they took a 6-month vacation when it ended. This was the first vacation in the band's history, including even cancelling a proposed supporting tour for the new live album.

Returning from their vacation, the band adopted a different style for their 1986 studio album, titled Somewhere in Time. This was not a concept album, though it was themed loosely around the idea of time travel and associated themes - history, the passage of time, and long journeys. It featured, for the first time in the band's history, synthesised bass and guitars to add textures and layers to the sound. Though considered different from the norm of Maiden sounds, it charted well across the world, especially with the single "Wasted Years".

The experimentation on Somewhere in Time resulted in Seventh Son of a Seventh Son during 1988. Adding to Iron Maiden's experimentation, it was a concept album featuring a story about a mythical child who possessed clairvoyant powers. For the first time, the band used keyboards on a recording, as opposed to guitar synthesisers on the previous release. Critics stated this produced a more accessible release. It was a great success, and became the band's second album to hit #1 in the UK charts.

In 1990, to end Iron Maiden's first ten years of releasing singles, they released The First Ten Years, a series of ten CDs and double 12" vinyls. Between 24 February and 28 April 1990, the individual parts were released one-by-one, each containing two of Iron Maiden's singles, including the B-sides.

In 1989, after touring with Iron Maiden, guitarist Adrian Smith released a solo album with his band ASAP entitled Silver and Gold. During this break in 1989, vocalist Bruce Dickinson began work on a solo album with former Gillan guitarist Janick Gers, releasing Tattooed Millionaire in 1990.

Soon afterward, Iron Maiden regrouped to work on a new album, Adrian Smith left the band due to a lack of enthusiasm. Janick Gers, having worked on Bruce Dickinson's solo project, was chosen to replace Smith and became the first new team member in seven years. The album, No Prayer for the Dying, was released during October 1990.

The band obtained their first (and to date, only) UK Singles Chart number one successful single with "Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter", originally recorded by Dickinson for the soundtrack to A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child. It was released on 24 December 1990, and was one of the first records to be released on several different formats with different B-sides. The single has the record for being the fastest release to rate number one and then lose any chart rating again over the following couple of weeks.

Dickinson performed a solo tour in 1991 before returning to studio work with Iron Maiden for the album Fear of the Dark. Released in 1992, the album was noticeably longer (due to this being Iron Maiden's first album recorded for CD rather than LP) and had several songs which became fan favourites, such as the title track and "Afraid to Shoot Strangers". The disc also featured "Wasting Love," one of the band's softer songs, and "From Here to Eternity", the third installment of the 'Charlotte the Harlot' narrative (although some fans will argue that 'Hooks in You' is actually the third installment, making 'From Here to Eternity' the fourth). The album featured the first songwriting by Gers, and no collaboration at all between Harris and Dickinson on songs.

In 1993, Bruce Dickinson left the band to further pursue his solo career. However, Dickinson agreed to remain with the band for a farewell tour and two live albums (later re-released in one package). The first, A Real Live One, featured songs from 1986 to 1992, and was released in March 1993. The second, A Real Dead One, featured songs from 1975 to 1984, and was released after Dickinson had left the band. He played his farewell show with Iron Maiden on 28 August 1993. The show was filmed, broadcast by the BBC, and released on video under the name Raising Hell.

In 1994, the band auditioned hundreds of vocalists, both famous and unknown before choosing Blaze Bayley, formerly of the band Wolfsbane. Bayley had a different vocal style from his predecessor, which ultimately received a mixed reception among fans.

After a two year hiatus (and three year hiatus from recording - a record for the band at the time) Iron Maiden returned in 1995. Releasing The X Factor, the band had their lowest chart position since 1981 for an album in the UK (debuting at number 8). Chief songwriter Harris was experiencing personal problems at the time with the end of his marriage, and many fans and critics[who?] feel the album's sound is a reflection of this.

The album included the 11-minute epic "Sign of the Cross", the band's longest song since "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". It also included "Man on the Edge", based on the movie Falling Down and "Lord of the Flies", based on the novel of the same name. The band toured for the rest of 1995 and 1996, playing for the first time in Israel, before stopping to release The Best of the Beast. The band's first compilation, it included a new single, "Virus".

The band returned to the studio for Virtual XI, released in 1998. Chart scores of the album were the band's lowest to date, failing to score one million worldwide sales for the first time in Iron Maiden's history. At the same time, Steve Harris assisted in remastering the entire discography of Iron Maiden up to "Live at Donington" (which was given a mainstream release for the first time) and released the set.

In February 1999, Bayley left the band by mutual consent. At the same time, the band surprised their fans when they announced that both Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith were rejoining the band, and that Janick Gers would remain. Iron Maiden now had three guitarists and a hugely successful reunion tour, The Ed Hunter Tour. This tour also supported the band's newly released greatest hits Ed Hunter, which also contained a computer game of the same name starring the band's mascot.

Iron Maiden's first studio release after the reunion with Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith came in the form of 2000's Brave New World. Thematic influences continued with "The Wicker Man" — based on the 1973 British cult film of the same name — and "Brave New World" — title taken from the Aldous Huxley novel of the same name.

The world tour that followed consisted of well over 100 dates and culminated on 19 January 2001 in a show at the Rock in Rio festival in Brazil, where Iron Maiden played to an audience of around 250, 000.[31] This performance was recorded and released on CD and DVD in March 2002 under the name Rock in Rio.

In 2003, Iron Maiden released Dance of Death. As usual, historical and literary influences continued — "Montsegur" in particular being about the Cathar stronghold conquered in 1244 and "Paschendale" relating to a significant battle during World War I.

Their performance at Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany, as part of the supporting tour, was recorded and released in August 2005 as a live album and DVD, entitled Death on the Road.

In 2005, the band announced a tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of their first album, Iron Maiden, and the 30th anniversary of their formation. The tour also was in support of the 2004 DVD entitled The Early Days and as such during the tour they only played material from their first four albums. As part of the celebration of their early days, the "Number of the Beast" single was re-released and went straight to number 3 in the UK Chart.

At Iron Maiden's last Ozzfest performance (20 August 2005 at the Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen in San Bernardino, CA), Sharon Osbourne interrupted their performance by turning off the PA system, after which the MC chanted: "Ozzy! Ozzy!". Members of the audience threw eggs at the band, causing singer Bruce Dickinson to question how eggs had got past Ozzfest security. During some of Maiden's best-known numbers, the band's PA system wavered. On the Ozzfest website, Mrs. Osbourne later accused Bruce Dickinson of disrespecting Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, and the production quality of the Ozzfest tour, while praising the rest of the band and their crew.

The band completed this tour by headlining the Reading and Leeds weekend festivals on the 26th and 28 August, 2005. For the second time, the band played a charity show for former drummer Clive Burr's Clive Burr MS Trust Fund charity.

In Autumn 2006, Iron Maiden released A Matter of Life and Death. While the album is not a concept album,[35] war and religion are recurring themes in the lyrics throughout, as well as in the album's artwork. A successful tour followed, during which they played the new album in its entirety; though response to this was mixed.

Iron Maiden recorded a live session at Abbey Road Studios for Live from Abbey Road in December 2006. Their performance was screened in an episode alongside sessions with Natasha Bedingfield and Gipsy Kings in March 2007 on Channel 4 (UK) and June 2007 on the Sundance Channel (USA).

In November 2006, Iron Maiden and manager Rod Smallwood announced that they were to end their 27-year-old relationship with Sanctuary Music and were to start a new company named Phantom Music Management. No other significant changes were made.

The second part of the "A Matter of Life and Death" tour was dubbed "A Matter of the Beast" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Number of the Beast album, and included appearances at several major festivals worldwide. The band announced plans to play five songs from A Matter of Life and Death and five from The Number of the Beast as part of their set but in fact played only four songs from The Number of the Beast. They played in the Middle East for the first time at the annual Dubai Desert Rock Festival in 2007. On the 24 June they ended the tour with a performance at London's Brixton Academy in aid of The Clive Burr MS Trust fund.

On 5 September 2007, the band announced their Somewhere Back in Time World Tour,which ties in with the DVD release of their Live After Death album. The setlist for the tour consisted of successes from the 1980s, with a specific emphasis on the Powerslave era for set design. The tour started in Mumbai, India on 1 February 2008 where the band played to an audience of about 30, 000. The first part of the tour consisted of 24 concerts in 21 cities, travelling over 50, 000 miles in the band's own chartered airplane "Ed Force One". They played their first ever concerts in Costa Rica and Colombia and their first Australian shows since 1992. On 12 May, the band released a new compilation album, titled Somewhere Back in Time. It includes a selection of tracks from their 1980 eponymous debut to 1988's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, including several live versions from Live After Death. With the sole UK headline show at Twickenham Stadium, this tour also marked the first ever stadium headlining show in the UK by the band. A final part of the tour took place in February and March 2009, including the band's first ever appearance in Peru and Ecuador, and their first performances in New Zealand for 16 years.

On 20 January 2009, the band announced that they were to release a full-length documentary film in select cinemas on 21 April. Titled Iron Maiden: Flight 666, the movie was filmed during the first part of the "Somewhere Back In Time" tour between February and March 2008. Flight 666 is co-produced by Banger Productions and was released by Universal Music Group in the U.S. and EMI Records in the rest of the world.

During a Rock Radio interview promoting Flight 666, Nicko McBrain revealed that Iron Maiden had booked studio time for early 2010 and would be likely to be touring again late that year or the year after. At the 2009 BRIT Awards the band won the award for British live act.

During their live presentation in São Paulo, on 16 March 2009, Bruce announced on stage that the show was the biggest of their career. In fact, the crowd over 63,000 people was Iron Maiden's all-time biggest attendance for a solo show, without other bands. The attendance was bigger than Chile's show, according to the organisers.In an interview with Metal Hammer Magazine, Adrian Smith dismissed rumours that the band would break up after their fifteenth studio album, He stated "...we write music, we're musicians, we'll carry on... It's not always easy to make an album, you've got six guys with their own ideas and focusing it into one outcome is quite difficult".

During the Somewhere Back In Time tour, Bruce Dickinson said that there are plans for Iron Maiden to write and record a new album, most likely to come out in 2009, and in an interview with Metal Edge, Steve Harris said there definitely would be another album, stating that, "I always had this vision that we would do 15 studio albums, and the next one would be the 15th. Hopefully, we'll do another one or two for luck, but we'll see how we go, really." Dickinson has also informed audiences that future tours would feature more recent Iron Maiden material. Asked about the possibility of a new album and Harris's fifteen-album limit, Adrian Smith commented that "we're musicians. We'll carry on. The great thing is that there's clearly a huge audience out there waiting to hear what we do right now", renewing hopes that a new album is forthcoming

My Chemical Romance is an American rock band from New Jersey, formed in 2001. The band consists of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way and have a diverse sound incorporating elements of gothic rock, punk, heavy metal, glam rock and metal, and progressive rock. Shortly after forming, the band signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004; the album was a commercial success, and was awarded platinum status a little over a year later.The band eclipsed their previous success with their 2006 concept album, The Black Parade, which gained generally favorable reviews among music critics.Their fourth studio album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released on November 22, 2010, to positive reviews.

The band was formed by frontman Gerard Way and drummer Matt Pelissier approximately one week after the September 11 attacks. Witnessing the planes crash into the World Trade Center influenced Way's life to the extent that he decided to start a band.Way wrote the song "Skylines and Turnstiles" to express his feelings about September 11 and shortly thereafter, Ray Toro was recruited because at the time Way couldn't sing and play the guitar at the same time.The name of the band was suggested by bass guitarist Mikey Way, younger brother of Gerard, who was working in a library when he was struck by the title of a book named Ecstacy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance. The first recording sessions were undertaken in Pelissier's attic, where the songs "Our Lady of Sorrows" (formerly called "Bring More Knives") and "Cubicles" were recorded. The band refers to those sessions as The Attic Demos.[citation needed] After hearing the demo, Mikey Way decided to join the band after dropping out of college. While with Eyeball Records, the band met Frank Iero, the lead vocalist and guitarist for Pencey Prep. Following Pencey Prep's split in 2001-02, Iero became a member of My Chemical Romance, just days prior to the recording of the band's debut album.They recorded their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, just three months after the formation of the band and released it in 2002 through Eyeball Records. The album was produced by Thursday frontman Geoff Rickley after the band became friends with him while playing shows in New Jersey. Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (2009–present)

In 2009, My Chemical Romance released a new single entitled "Desolation Row" (a cover of the Bob Dylan song) on February 1, 2009. It was recorded to feature as the end credit track for the 2009 film Watchmen, an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name.It was then announced by the band that they would be releasing "a collection of nine never-before-seen live videos, straight from the encore set of the Mexico City show from October 2007", entitled ¡Venganza!. The release was stored on a bullet-shaped flash drive and also contained exclusive photos of the band from the show. It was released on April 29, 2009.
On their website, on May 27, 2009, their web designer Jeff Watson announced that they were headed to the studio to record their fourth full-length album for the following few weeks with producer Brendan O'Brien, who has worked with AC/DC, Mastodon, and Pearl Jam.

In an interview with NME, Gerard Way said the band's next record would be a rock album, saying, "I think (the next album) will definitely be stripped down. I think the band misses being a rock band." In a separate interview with Idiomag, Way commented that the next release would be less theatrical in scope, stating that "it's not going to be hiding behind a veil of fiction or uniforms and makeup anymore." In an interview with PopEater, Way also stated that the next album will be "full of hate." He has also said "Over the years that we've been hearing ourselves live and hearing us on records, we kind of prefer the live. There's more of a garage feel and more energy. I'd like to capture some of that, finally. That's the goal for the next one."
On July 31 and August 1, 2009, My Chemical Romance played two "secret" shows at The Roxy Theater in Los Angeles, the shows being their first concert the band has played since Madison Square Garden, in May 2008. The band also premiered several new songs said to be from their upcoming fourth album during the shows, one reportedly titled "Death Before Disco", a song front-man Gerard Way has noted he is particularly excited about. The song has since been renamed "Party Poison" and will be included on the new album. Way explained further in a Rolling Stone interview that "It's a completely different sound for the band — it's like an anti-party song that you can party to. I can't wait for people to hear it. It brings back, lyrically, some of that wonderful fiction from the first album.
Gerard Way also said in a November 2009 interview with Rock Sound that the fourth album would be their defining work. "A friend who heard the record recently said he now had no interest in listening to our older work anymore, that we had made all our old material redundant. I took it as a compliment, the next thing you should always make the last thing seem unimportant and I think that will happen when we finally release this album."

Drummer yang berasal dari afrika selatan ini bermain drum semenjak usia 6 tahun dan memperoleh pengaruh musik dari beberapa drummer hebat seperti Mike Portnoy, Carter Beauford, Tony Royster Jr., Travis Barker, dan Thomas Lang. Dia adalah drummer solo. Dia bahkan disebut-sebut lebih hebat dari Travis Barker. Permainannya mengandalkan tehnik, speed, dan groove.

Namun bagi kita para sevenfoldism, tidak ada drummer yang boleh menggantikan the rev di hati kita semua.
